About OFF GRID with DOUG and STACY:
We moved to our 11 acres in 2011 from a large city in the Midwest with zero carpentry and farming skills. We live with no solar / wind power / public water or well. We share our adventure to a sustainable life, growing our own food from vegetables to meat. We post videos DAILY and they range from HOW TO to EVERYDAY LIFE and NUTRITION on the off grid homestead. We were city folks just like you probably and wanted to enjoy life and have more control over our food. We share food recipes as well as natural remedies.

I planted my first garlic ever a couple of weeks ago. Did not know they needed covering. So much wonderful information. Be Blessed!

I make garlic scape pesto--it's raw, it's potent and it's delicious.

Planted garlic for the first time here in NW Missouri. All the seed companies were sold out so I got a few heads from the grocery store. I hope it comes up. Thanks for all your videos. You have been a great source for me for garden knowledge the past couple years. Keep teaching!

Hardneck scapes are the best! I do believe though, that the softneck garlic can be easily braided but the hardneck, by virtue of its name, are almost impossible to do a traditional braid (I grow hardneck in Sycamore, Illinois). Hardneck garlic can be twisted into a loose braid.

I smash and dice a clove a day and take it with a glass of water to help with my blood pressure issues and to boost immunity.

I learned some new tricks for growing garlic, so thank you 🙏🏼 both for making this video and sharing. Can’t wait to try my fermented garlic next Spring. 😊

Love the garden art. I planted garlic for the first time this year and I'm so excited. We love garlic so even if the first year isn't the best I'll keep trying. Thanks for all of the nuggets!

Thanks Stacy! What a lovely video; you are so charming. I learned something too. I planted garlic for the first time yesterday but didn't cover it with straw. I also like your fun fact about Chicago and it was news to me! I love your flying pigs and really admire and respect you for what you and your husband have accomplished. Last but definitely not least I love your gentle ways with Maggie and Molly, who's sprouting up some. Have a nice week and a blessed Thanksgiving.👵🌲🐕💌old lady and her Molly in WA state💖🐕

Soft neck is the braiding kind and is mild flavored. I love buying my garlic from Forever Yong farm it is in Az and they send it out according to your planting months they give you time to put in fridge for 6 to 8 weeks I order in May to make sure I get what I want. They sell both hard neck and soft neck. I follow Growing in the garden/ garlic. She is a master gardener. I love following off grid with Doug and Stacy I love all the medicinal plants Stacy growers. I love that Doug keeps me updated on homesteading and the state we are in so we are preparing. That you both Doug and Stacy
