Today we’re discussing a popular US stock market index fund called the S&P500. It’s an extremely popular stock market investment amongst retail investors, with many, myself included having it as one of the core investments within my own personal stock investment portfolio which I hold on Trading 212 and Vanguard UK. I personally believe it's one of the best index funds to invest in based on my own risk appetite and investment objectives. However my aim in today’s video is to share why the index fund is so popular, and why it's my own personal favourite investment right now.

Global index fund investor here. Most people would guess that the US will outperform the world over the next ~30 years, but we really don't know. I'm happy knowing that I'm covering all bases being globally diversified

The S&P is a slow and steady reliable fund to dump money into and forget about it, but if you keep an eye on things there are funds out there that perform a lot better, you just have to actively manage your portfolio a little more

Given that about 60-70% of global funds are invested in the US then most investors are well covered in the S&P500 anyway. That said I can’t deny I have a couple of small US satellite ETF’s just for the fun of it.

Hi Mitch, been subscribed to you since March when I started investing, I’ve appreciated your content you give good advice for people just starting out but it sometimes feels like your content is a bit recycled with regards to investing in index funds etc. I understand you have to do certain things for engagement on YouTube but for loyal subscribers it would be nice to see some different content, such as how you research a specific stock and things like that. This is purely constructive as I do enjoy your videos.

I’ve typically favoured a global approach however would have been better off sticking to the S&P. The European, and Asia markets are just not performing and its hard to think this will change anytime soon

Might be an idea to have a look at some small and mid cap ETFs, the upcoming rate cuts from the Fed will help small and mid caps more than the large and mega caps.

Id rather right now for the next month invest in gold and buying the yen.

All s and p 500 companies need operating revenue and profit to increase from exporting to other countries and other countries simply dont have the money.

The us federal reserve is not cutting rates because it wants to- its doing so because its forced to do so.
