Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of BMW 1 Series 2019

Показать описание
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier
- an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking systems (car to car, with a pedestrian and a cyclist target), lane support and speed assist technologies and seatbelt reminders.

Looks like a fun working place. Would be nice to program these sensors and then watch the fireworks live 😁

I have the i3 and just watched that crash test. It got 4 stars ages ago yet basically doesn't deform at all in the side pole test. Wouldn't want to get my head smacked like that in the new 1 series.

Are we going backwards? After 10 years of new cars being completely solid and having no A-pillar deformation at all, we see all new cars DO have A-pillar deformation in 64 km/h crash.

Both side curtain airbags deploy in any front or side impact, instead of just the ones that help (driver's side curtain in the side impact, pole side impact, and front offset impact). That's lazy engineering that seems to be getting more and more common. My advice to anyone with a car that does that, keep a swiss army knife in the glove box and puncture the side curtain airbag after the crash, because those things stay inflated and you have to duck under them otherwise. Somebody actually died this February in a Tesla when it hit a tree and caught fire and the side curtains both went off and wouldn't be moved after the crash. They obstructed escape which may have contributed to the fatality. I think side curtain airbags are very important, one saved my mom's life in an actual side impact crash, but they should only go off when needed and deflate within 15-20 seconds of the crash, or better yet, have a zipper or a pull tab that occupants can use to release the gas after the crash is over.

Only Marginal Whiplash Rear Impact result for the front seats and weak upper body readings in the Frontal Full Width for rear passengers. Thats not what I expect from brand new vehicles..
Plus it looks ugly haha, check 2:08 after it brakes for the pedestrian dummy. Standing right next to the previous generation that looks much better.

Porque no sale un impacto trasero con la fuerza de un camión?

Do they give these cars for free to crash test?
