A fourth proof of 1=2

Mr. John Hush serendipitously discovers and hence proves for the fourth time that 1=2 by solving a 'decimated' (full of decimals) quadratic equation!

I'm starting to think that John actually thinks that 1=2

I'm scared of this man, he can prove death = life.

A life dedicated to prove that 1=2. You, sir, are an absolute legend. (ノ・ェ・)ノ

The thing about "x=1=2" is that "x" is a variable, which means that "x" can take multiple values, but it doesent mean those values are equal. In our case, when x can take values of 1 and 2, it only means that the original functions intersects the x axis at two points, (1, 0) and (2, 0) (by f(x)=0 we are trying to find those values which lies on x axis... because every (x, 0) is found somewhere along the x axis ). The correct way to represent those results is x with some index "n"=1 and x with some index "m"=2 (by those indexes i can take two specific x´s).

I usually like these videos but Mr.Hush this was your worst attempt at proving 1=2. It is just a matter of how you presented the answer, you have to put an "or" in the answer (x=1 or x=2) not (x=1=2). y is a function of x which intersects y=0 at 2 points both of which separately solve the equation.

Mr hush: how do you solve it?
Me: I don't really know but you're probably going to tell me

cashier: that would be 2 dollars
me: (gives 1 dollar)
cashier: you forgot 1 dollar
me: you forgot your math lessons

His passion for math is just outstanding and the fact that i understand most of this stuff in Grade 8 because I go to kumon is equally amazing. Keep up the great work John!

It has been about two years since I last had quadratic equations in my syllabus; but you, sir, have made such a nice video that I couldn't help myself from completely watching it! Keep the videos coming! Much love from India! <3

Josh from Chicago. Watching your videos has brightened up my days throughout this pandemic. Today was an especially low one for me, but watching your enthusiasm for teaching and math really inspires me and lifted me up (and makes me miss doing math lol). Thank you for all the work that you do, and keep it up! :)

I mean... "x = 1 or 2" is not the same as "1=2" tho

*Still better than some ridiculously difficult and long geometrical proofs!!!* 😊😊

Once again, Thank you Mr. Hush!!

Of course, the quadratic formula is short for two solutions separated by OR. So the answer is x=1 OR x=2, not x=1=2.

Do you have anything interesting about the number 37? I always liked that number, and that multiplying it by multiples of 3 you get like
(3 x 1= 3) so 3 x 37 = 111
or (3 x 2 = 6) so 6 x 37 = 222
or (3 x 3 = 9) so 9 x 37 = 333 etc.
Just curious if you've got any cool stuff about 37?
Or maybe it's just a cool little coincidence lol
