Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Ford Tourneo Custom 2024

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:

▶ a frontal impact test where 50% of the width of the car strikes an oncoming deformable barrier, travelling at 50 km/h
▶ a frontal impact test where the car impacts a full-width rigid barrier
▶ a side impact test where a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
▶ a pole test where the car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole and the robustness of the centre airbag is evaluated
▶ a whiplash test performed on a sled.

A series of pedestrian tests are also conducted with different impactors: adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form. As well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests. In 2023, a test scenario for Cyclist Dooring Prevention was introduced.

Active safety is rated based on the performance of the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking, car-to-car, and car-to-motorcycle scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders, fatigue, distraction, and impairment), lane support, and speed assistance technologies.

I'm just happy these tests are getting more and more challenging, but I personally would prefer more strict physical crash tests where rear passenger dummies are also used

I think the previous 40 mph frontal crash test was much more demanding on the vehicle structure, especially for larger vehicles. For me, the new test is a step backwards.

Today, the IIHS test provides much more information on the actual safety of a vehicle.

3 stars for a van? For such a big van I thought it would be safe enough to receive 5 stars

That three star rating just killed its fleet sale potential.

Once more absolutely fascinated!
I do wonder, when NCAP will start to focus more on compatibility?
Testing cars between 1000kg and 2500kg at the same speed doesn't improve the situation in actual real life accidents!

Ottimo
