I'm almost finished my 2 year orthodontic treatment and I'm delighted with the results. No more underbite. I now have a healthy normal bite and no more covering my smile. I have an underbite and I hate it so much! I want to fix it. I’m booked in for a consolation with an orthodontist. I hope braces and maybe teeth extractions can help me correct my bite as I don’t want jaw line surgery and I don’t feel it’s bad enough to have it. Many dentist keep telling me jaw line surgery but I don’t want to have it.

in my situation i had already finished my orthodontic treatment but my top teeth was basic laying incredibly slanted over my bottom teeth instead of being straight behind it. i’m now getting it fixed with elastics so alls good but it was a little weird that they never caught onto it the first time around

My orthodontist told me I had an extended lower jaw. My top and bottom teeth touch each other and he said my top teeth are supposed overlap the bottom like a pair of scissors. Never knew that until recently

My orthodontist told me we didn't need to extract two of my upper molars to straighten them out. He said he wanted to extract them so I don't have a wide smile... I already extracted them and now I'm noticing how much it ruined my upper smile. I even think it would've been 10x smarter not to extract them since I will have orthognatic surgery to correct my underbite. My lower teeth are wider than my upper teeth..

I just got braces it’s been about two months and no one told me it’ll get worse before it gets better.. well at least with my teeth. I do have both an Open bite and an underbite. Hated my teeth all throughout my teens years and even adult years. So happy to finally get them fixed at age 30!

i had an underbite, ortho said one tooth extraction on lower jaw and braces. to this day im so thankful he didnt extract more than one teeth, and it was an incisor. after braces i ended up with very mild crowdedness in my lower incisors (probably due to having only one tooth extracted, maybe with 2 extractions there wouldnt be an issue) but underbite got corrected. even with the mild crowdedness, im still grateful my ortho didnt do many extractions.

Not sure if you are still responding to comments, but I hope so! I have a class 3 bite now with spacing on top row, bottom row is fine (no crowding or spacing). Im 31 now. 5 years ago I got consults for braces and none of them mention jaw surgery nor removing teeth on the bottom. This year, I have had 4 consults and they all saying i will develop an underbite with the braces and will need to either do jaw surgery or remove 2 teeth on the bottom. I don’t understand why i cant just get braces with elastics. I don’t want surgery nor do I want to remove teeth.

I hate having a underbite it makes my bottom lip seem like it’s always poking out when your looking at my face from the side . I really hate it I’m very aware of it but it’s nothing I can do about it and it gets very annoying especially in public when being watched
