So true! My mom is 67 snd this is a never ending story w her. So many men one after another.

The happy family I thought I had, I learned was shattered by spending time with my mom outside of our home. This is when I learned she was cheating on my dad & she made me keep it a secret. Now in my 40s, I had my share of dysfunctional relationships, I long for a relationship with her but she doesn’t seem to want the same

My mom told me she always had to choose me or my dad. She chose my dad who ultimately abandoned me completely after he & mom divorced. Eventually, I went NC with mom. Crushing.

When I was very young, my mother and father got divorced. Later, she got married again and divorced once more. When I was in elementary school, she became entangled with a married man and even got into physical fights in front of me. This situation lasted for about five years. Indeed, she was extremely narcissistic.

When others pointed out her mistakes, she would become furious and defensive. Her relationships with those so-called boyfriends were also unhealthy. Throughout elementary and middle school, I lived in a constant state of fear because they often fought. By the time I reached high school, my anxiety and depression exploded. Even the slightest noise would send me into a panic.

So, in the end, a narcissistic mother will always choose a man over her child.
