What Happens To Your Body When You Play Video Games For Hours

Video games often get a bad rap for the amount of violence in them, with many old people thinking the games themselves can make you violent. Contrary to their outdated opinions, though, gaming can actually improve your critical thinking skills and hand-eye coordination. Not to mention the fact that it's absolutely fun.

However, too much of a good thing can be bad. Even sleeping too much and drinking too much water can do more harm than good.

Similarly, playing video games for too long can also lead to some pretty bad things. Take a look at what happens when you play video games for too long.

See? It's not all bad. But will any of the negatives change your video game playing habits?

Gamers are more likely to gain weight because they aren't active while playing a game. It has nothing to do with video games themselves. The same could be said about an office worker

I’ve been playing games for 13 hours a day since quarantine started. I would recommend playing a game for an hour, then walk around for 10 minutes to get your blood going. If your playing a game with a lot of flashing/moving colors, take a break every so often. If you watch a lot of shows, keep your eyes at least 3 ft from the screen to minimize eye damage. If your getting really mad at a certain game or boss fight, take a break and eat some chocolate. It usually helps. If your playing for long periods of time, I would not recommend doing it by using caffeine, as it could lead to heart attacks. Instead, I would take breaks from your game every time you feel tired and do a 5-min workout to get your blood pumping. Don’t play all night often, instead, play all day and get at least 6 hours of sleep. (Assuming your 14 and older, if not, try to get 7-8) keep in mind, IM NOT SAYING THAT GAMING FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME HAS NO NEGATIVE EFFECTS, I’m saying that this has worked for me, (14 years old) and that this is just from some info I know.

I used to play games all the time up until only 2 months ago when I had enough and decided something seriously needed to change, I wasn’t in bad physical health, I was perfectly “normal” however the thing with me was how much of my life I was wasting, almost every moment I was away from work I’d play games on average of 5 hours a day, when I had a day off it was closer to 8 per day, I was basically shy and had no confidence, and although I wasn’t physically bad, I just felt weak and shallow and just felt like utter crap even though there wasn’t really anything “wrong”, I just hated the time wasting so I joined the gym and got more social and can safely say it honestly is the best personal decision I have ever made, to say I feel better would be an understatement, even my family, friends and colleagues have noticed my confidence. don’t get me wrong I still enjoy playing, but when I reach 2 hours I really don’t want to continue, the longest I played recently was 3 hours and it felt like a huge waste so now I’ve just been doing an hour when I do play them, sometimes 2 but it’s more than enough, so while there may not be too many physical problems caused by gaming, it seriously made things worse for me more than I ever even knew at the time and I seriously can’t imagine going back to sitting on my a** in a room for hours on end in front of a tv, I honestly think personal confidence and lack of motivation is the biggest detriment gaming causes, at least it was for me.

00:33 can actually be prevented by sitting on a gaming chair as those types of chairs have reclining abilities due to being able to adjust the seat's angle at the pull of a lever, not to mention those chairs can easily rotate and some can even rock back and forth depending on the angle of the backrest support!
