Performance Boost For AMD CPU's?

Does a simple windows update bring big boosts to Star Citizen performance? I've tested the 5800X3D, 7800X3D and 9700X to see if the KB5041587 updates can help AMD CPU's!

i upgraded from win 10 to win 11 with this patch and i had 15 to 20 fps on average more in sc - 3440x1440, 5800X3D, 4070ti, 32Gig ram, ASUS Crosshair 7 hero with latest bios
This was a huge improvement for me

Yeah heard about this recently and wondered the same. Was going to wait until the proper update but as a 5800x3D owner it seems I dont need to bother :D Thanks for the tests as always o7

Thanks for doing this. I did my own testing in Homeworld 3 with my 5800X3D/3080 10GB. It got a really nice bump on my minimum frames. Homeworld 3 has a nice built-in benchmark that makes it easy to test with. On Epic settings with ray tracing, I went from 23 FPS min to 33 FPS min. That is a nice jump and went from a very stuttery run to smooth.

I had wondered if I would see any difference in SC. SC is still so unoptimized so as we get deeper and deeper into Vulcan we might see more benefits from this patch.

A video about Star Citizen running on ANY Linux Distro would be an educational as well as interesting video!! Any plans for one Mr TenPound42??

New there'd be a video second I saw this, thanks again for testing! I don't even have 3.24 downloaded at the moment

At least AMD is not scamming customers selling broken CPUs.

Thanks for the work investigating that, sadly no gains =/

I've had a noticeable improvement on my 7500F, maybe some more testing on non x3d lower end cpu's?

Great video as always.. on my side, don't know if it's a coincidence with 3.24 or not, but both with the KB5041587 make me feel the game a little bit smoother in most of the cases with a 7950x3D (less random stutters and slightly a bit more fps here and there)

Latest Zen-5 EPYC server CPU benchmarks are giving 2x performance ! (Which is a fantastic result). I think it's obvious Zen-5 was developed purely to win in the server market, while the gaming side of Zen-5 was only tweaked afterwards to not have it lose to Zen-4.

Thanks for checking the 5800X3D, even if the results are anti-climactic!

shame, but thanks for trying out the update for us.

This result was very surprising. Some games were getting around 15 - 30% improvements. Maybe once Vulkan is properly implemented and optimized we will see some benefits. Oh well, at least I don't have to move from Win 10 just yet. For some reason I'm dreading going to 11.

2:02 this graph really should tell us everything ay, look at that cpu/gpu pairing and can't even break 60 on 1080p, sort it out CIG

Gears 5 : Unreal Engine
Fortnite : Unreal Engine
Remnant : Unreal Engine
Star Wars : Unreal Engine
Homeworld 3 : Unreal Engine
Calisto protocol : Unreal Engine
Harry Potter : Unreal Engine
Rocket League : Unreal Engine

World War Z : In house
Riftbreaker : In house
Party Animals : In house
Forza : In house
Kaloff Dhutee : In house
F1 : In house
Far Cry 6 : In house
Flight Simulator : In house
Rainbow Six : In house

Wukong seems to be the only Unreal Engine game that doesn't get much benefit from this update.
Still, we've made the joke for 20 years about downloading more RAM but this time, thanks to an update we are downloading more performance instead.

My CPU was just referred to as "older generation" 😭

Could it be possible, that it has more something to do with the SC-Patch?

You're not precise about the windows update, it's written very small and we can't see anything!

My 5600x w/3060 12GB works great. I’m playing in 1080P with 66% scaling setting. Other than the usual recommended things to turn off VSync clouds, etc.I’m using Very High and default graphic setting. When OLEDS drop in price I’ll get a 1440P OLED, my current monitor is an older 4k but it’s pretty decent.

If you look at the patch notes for Microsoft's update package that supposedly enables this, there is zero mention of it. Nada, zilch. You'd think that an average 10% framerate increase in a lot of popular video games plus whatever the equivalent is for productivity apps would be worthy of at least a few words. I strongly suspect the actual perf boost is in 24H2 like Microsoft actually said, and we've all been taken for a ride by a handful of youtubers.
