Do Not Regret What You Have Done

The respected Samurai Miyamoto Musashi once said - Do not regret what you have done.

Now on the surface this may seem extreme - but what I think Musashi is referring to here is to not dwell and live in the past.

As humans, we’re all guaranteed to make mistakes - but if we constantly dwell and focus on these mistakes, this then paralyses us from moving forward.

Now does this mean we should never have any remorse or regret for the mistakes we make?

No.

A true warrior is able to reflect, contemplate, and take full responsibility for their actions.

If you make a mistake - own it, asses where you went wrong, make amends where you have to, and strategise ways to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

But at the same time - don’t dwell on them. You are only human and the only thing that it accomplishes is making your present self miserable.

Acknowledging your mistakes of the past is important - but what is more important - is the ability to accept, learn and move on from the mistakes you make - so that you are not paralysed by your past decisions - and you’re able to keep moving forward, and continually live in the present.

His books and the teachings I got from a young age in martial arts, is what got me through heartbreak, depression, losing goals and job opportunities, feeling lost and army training etc. All in all, appreciate being. You don't have tomorrow to worry about, nor you have yesterday to dwell upon. You only have today to live. So put your life on the line, in this single moment.

Your edits are very unique.
I think these edits make Musashis Teachings easily available and to consume for the younger generation. These shorts really fit our current time, I think you found a good niche here.

I can see how you can expand this idea to Sunzi by underlying it with Kingdom Manga or Berserk with Nietzsches Teachings.

I struggle a lot with regrets and nowadays I tend to do so much analysis to the point where I'm paralyzed by them and unable to make decisions (now I have to make a decision on which country to go to further my studies). This video helped me understand that regrets may not be that scary and how I could potentially cope with it. Thank you very much.

In the book think like a monk, Jay Shetty says that if you are embarrassed or are regretting your mistakes, it means you have already improved as now you know they were mistakes. Hence you are already winning. So keep moving forward.
