FIX -Mic Not Working With Camera or Phone (No Audio When Recording Video With External Mic)

Are you using an external mic with your camera or phone to record videos, and have no sound in your recordings?

It's pretty common to have audio issues when you're using an external microphone with your camera or phone, especially when you're trying it out for the first time.

Before you throw it out the window or send it back, there are a few easy things to check.

NOTE: If you've already checked batteries and cable/adapter connections, skip to 2:41. This is the most common cause of the problem.

The video was super useful to learn about possible problems. None of those applied to me though. I am having no sound with a new mic, so new cords, I checked everything you suggested and still no sound :( is there any settings that need to be checked on the smartphone that could affect? any other possibility when none of the ones you addressed seem to be the problem? Solved my mystery! it was the 2 ring and three ring problem. I used a three ring in my camera and got only a static noise in my video. no way to fix that at all? :(

Hi, Thanks for the video, it is very helpful. I'm trying to make my first YouTube video. There's great sound from the headphone, but no sound from the camera. Should I be hearing audio from the camcorder without the headphone? If I upload the video will it have the sound I hear from the headphone even though I can't hear any without the headphone. You helped me when I was about to give up on lav mic to GoPro 7 hero black. I had to use the 2 ring adapter to plug into my GoPro audio box thingy. Lol

I put this clip on mic for the camcorder recording and all my video came out with no voice recording! I watched your video to find out it is the 2 ring thing to the camcorder when the clip on mic is 3 ring. Just ordered the adapter thanks for the tip!
