Ever been in a crowd and witnessed someone on stage start to fall apart from nerves? Remember how awkward it was, how bad you wanted it to stop and how much you wanted them to regain composure?
Whenever I'm about to speak I just remind myself that everyone in the crowd is quietly cheering for me and is on my team. This really helps me. Hopefully it helps someone else.

My problem during public speech or even in a meeting is that I talk too fast, and the worse part is that my mind stops thinking much and I often repeat the same thing over and over again in very plain language as my vocabulary fails since the mind isnt thinking much. It's all due to nervousness. I dont look nervous but my low quality speech gives it away. Worse, people think my knowledge about the subject is shallow based on that speech. Later, my head is filled with remorse over 100 different ways I could have communicated my thoughts better and all the arguments I could have given. However, everytime I speak, the language and vocabulary gets very banal, repetitive and boring.

I just noticed I can't do a public speech . I become nervous and start repeating words and sweating just begins as my heartbeat increases .

Great points...years back I had what was in my mind a total melt down. When I sat down, the lady next to me said, "great asked her if I seemed nervous and she said, "not at since then I always remind myself of this story and plow through the nervousness that inevitably will happen.

Totally agree. I did toastmasters and realized that practicing my speech gets me through that first 30 seconds and then I’m fine. It not about being nervous, it about dealing with it.

The 50% nervous and 50% excitement really hit it on the nail for me, I’ve never really thought about it that way until you said that👍

I would say a big one for me is preparation. Giving your speech in front of a family member or the mirror to solidify the message in your mind is one of the single best things I do before an event that really provides me the confidence to push through the nerves and successfully get my message across.

Thank you. I think Knowing that anxiety and nervousness won't stop me from doing a good job and getting my points across is the most helpful idea for me. It also me to realize that it's not about me. It's about getting the information to the audience and helping them understand

Thank you for these tips! I wish I had heard this years ago! My first experience with public speaking traumatized me. I was in 6th grade trying out for a Shakespeare play. I had my part down pact. I was so excited to try out!!! However, when I stood up and faced the class, the butterflies hit so hard that all I could do was giggle. I had never experienced anything like it. I didn’t even know I was afraid! my teacher, told me that I had a fear of public speaking. I’ve held onto that belief for 30 years! It never occurred to me that any of those butterflies were caused by excitement. I’ve avoided public speaking like the plague my entire life. Maybe just maybe there isn’t something wrong with me, and someday I may be able to speak in public.

Thank you for your videos. I’m looking forward to going through more of them as someone who has had a stutter their whole lives, this is refreshing and nice to hear!

Point 4
Point 5 is so true! Sometimes things can go badly if we are not nervous beforehand. Nervousness can give us the motivation to prepare ahead of time.

Thank you so much for sharing these great tips! I resonate with #6 for sure! I recently was asked to speak about my tea products in front of a group of panelists and attendees. And I felt so supported because just before I provided them with samples of my tea; they absolutely loved it from the taste to the benefits. That gave me a great deal of ease and reassurance to speak confidently without nerves.

I just started getting into voice over work for a youtube channel im starting. It's funny that even in my own room with no one around, I still get nervous before I start recording. It took me a while to figure out how to breathe while speaking. I'm on week 2 of this and still yesterday I was nervous while recording. I think you are correct, though. I think a big part of it is excitement. These tips are helpful, thank you!

Assume that everybody is rooting for you is the one that stuck with me. I'm a very positive person but when going into certain conversations, mostly when I need to get an important idea across or things that I NEED to happen I get nervous about the other person. Thx for the tips. I am definitely gonna think about that one next time.
