Citi Rewards + Instarem Amaze has been an amazing combo to include almost every spend to get 10x reward points due to amaze being able to change payment method to online, BUT does not change the MCC Merchant category code

- Citi Thank you points can be converted to either 4mpd or up to 3.5% Cashback

But it is definitely not perfect because there are some exclusions with this strategy which we will discuss today, but fret not, as I will also offer alternative solutions to combat the issues!

Travel
- Airlines, Hotels, Restaurants in Hotels, Cruise, Travel Agencies
- Miles Alternatives: SGD use DBS WWMC, HSBC Revolution for online. FCY/Non-online use UOB Lady’s with Instarem Amaze Travel category
- Cashback Alternative: DBS Live Fresh, UOB EVOL for online

Public Transport
- SimplyGo Bus/MRT will not get
- Alternatives: SC Smart, DBS Live Fresh, UOB EVOL, UOB One

Grabpay Wallet
- Obviously not, especially with Grabpay consistent nerf
- Alternatives: AMEX TCB, AMEX Highflyer

Insurance
- Common exclusion
- Maybank Platinum Visa 3.33% min $300 monthly, or 1% Cashback with HSBC EGA GIRO

Utilities
- Electricity: Grabpay 1.2% for Geneco, coupled with 1.5% Amex TCB 1.5% total 2.7%
- UOB One for SP Utilities 3.33%+1%

Govt Services/Education
- AMEX TCB or Highflyer
- Otherwise route through Grabpay mastercard

Does anyone use UOB evol overseas these days? If you could earn 8% from transactions - ~4% (3.5% foreign currency charge + bank rates). That's still about 4% interest
