As somebody who is extremely strong and has been basically raised in gyms, I can stay with confidence that things like Pilates and intense yoga really humbled me. That shit is harder than it looks.

As a nursing student who is taught exercises similar to these to help pateint prevent muscle atrophy. Yes these types of workouts work.

In Ballett there is a workout exercise called "Swan arms" based on the movement they do most in swan lake and let me tell you: that was one of the most painful things I ever did in my entire life

Progressive overload is an actual thing... these exercises are good for developing muscle if you have literally none.. but once you've started doing any actual muscle building, this type of exercise isn't building anything. Even Yoga is better because you have to hold your own bodyweight much of the time.
You want real muscles, you gotta lift (relative to you) heavy weights.

Maybe they do work but it's kind of hard to know how effective they are given that you also lift weight...

These exercises were a huge lifesaver for me when I first started working out. I lived a massively sedimentary lifestyle for a really long time, over 5 years, and I was about 80 pounds overweight when I started. These exercises helped my body get into a much better state for true, more intense workouts. I did progressive overload exercises, treadmill walking, and those in place stair stepper thingies for about three weeks. I also cut out fast food, fried food, and soda. I actually lost weight (the walking & stair stepper obviously), and felt so much better when I started lifting weights. I had a lot of false starts with workouts when I was immediately jumping into more involved workouts.
Her account really helped me with progressive overload, and I did go on to lose that 80 pounds. Went from being a size 12 to a size 2-4 (women’s brands iykyk)

Talking from personal experience. I started doing her weightless arm workouts as a beginner. My goal wasn't fat loss since I'm skinny, but I wanted to get back in shape. This type of videos left me sore and after a couple of weeks my arms got more toned. Then, I wanted to build muscles. I kept doing these but couldn't see any changes, so I got some weights and they did wonders (MadFit weight workouts are great). So I guess weightless exercises are good as a start, or if you just want toned arms, but not in the long term if you want stronger arms.

Those are called Isometric Exercises.
Isometric Exercises are mostly given to patients that are bedridden or recovering from a medical procedure, to help their muscles prevent atrophy while being bedridden.
They work the same as weighted exercises because theres still resistance, say like, pushing ur arms together, both are fighting each other's force, its almost the same as using a dumbbell for the resistance.

“I don’t want to build muscle” ladies building muscle and bone density is the best thing you could do for your body. You will not look bulky! Do you know how hard it is for women to look jacked? I’ve been lifting weight for 3 years now and I still look very feminine.
