Thank you for this video buddy. You and all of the other home repair Youtube channels are a blessing to those of us who haven't learned these things ourselves or are looking for new ways to do work around the home.

I’m not a very handy guy, but today I was able to repair 2 doors that have been giving us issues for awhile because of this video. Thanks man!

Great idea with the dowel. I’ve gone to pro-grade CA glue w activator for these types of repairs, it gets you out in minutes. Using a Vix bit for the pilot also saves a step. Lastly if it’s the top hinge replace one screw with a long one that will reach framing. It’ll help keep the door from coming off it’s hinges again.

Thank you so much, took 30 seconds. Not bad for a 64yr old woman. You have saved me a fortune calling out a joiner 👍🌟

I just did this to my front door and it's worked brilliantly. To be honest, I was skeptical I could manage this and that it would be 'easy', but I did and it was! Thank you so much Mr Fix It.

That was one of *the* best DIY vids I've ever seen. All the information, efficiently delivered and the F-bomb thing is hilarious. ONE question. The space behind the jamb I'm fixing is completely free of a stud...no material there at all... I have a carpenter friend who suggested this same dowel fix despite there being nothing back there... saying that he would go "as big as possible" on the dowel..up to even 3/4" for good security. I guess I'll know when I try it but it seems like not a lot of jamb material to adhere to...just 1/4" or so of depth. Then another carpenter said that would be fine ....but also glue the hinge to the jamb as well. Thoughts appreciated. Thanks. Oh...this is the bottom hinge ...not the top. And the whole discussion came as an alternative to taking of the casing trim and cutting back the drywall, filling that with a stud and then putting it all back together. Thanks

Hi, used your method yesterday. Had an emergency repair. The "handyman" I hired to install this door clearly over tightened and messed up the screw holes. But I found he messed it up on the door side, on a brand new door too. So I just did it to all 3 holes on the jamb and the one on the door. Worked like a champ. Gorilla Glue dries in 15 minutes. Good as new (I hope).

Thank you, my match stick and glue fix only lasted 6 months. Will be doing this and I love your difficulty rating! :)

Thank you so much. We had to drill new holes to replace old rusted hinges. The holes were too close and even though I filled the old holes, it didn't last. Just used your idea with the dowel and wood glue. Tomorrow we'll hang the door back up and we are certain this fix will work this time.

Great video. I have used the toothpick method and the golf tee method, but never this one. I like it the best since t completely fills the original hole and give you something solid to screw in to. Thanks for sharing!
