Who do you agree with? (there's a reason why NT's last name is "right" ;P)

In these times so very dominated by dispensationalism, Tom Wright’s teachings are like a rejuvenating breath of fresh air. ✔️

In the heart belongs to Jesus. I am not in charge, He is. I'm glad to be a believer Graced by Him, no matter "how" it all unfolds. Maranatha!

People must avoid a "repeat after me" theology and do their own studying. That starts with a good grasp of hermeneutics.

Jesus prayed to the father not to take them out the world but that you protect them from the evil one.

He misses the entire purpose of it. We come back with Jesus and he simply ignores it.

NT Wriight is spot on here. Jesus is with us today folks...He lives in our hearts.

Why would Jesus tell us to pray for escape when the end times signs start to be fulfilled, unless we CAN and SHOULD want to escape?

Luke 21:36 "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

I am learning the importance of examining the 'lens' with which I read Holy Scripture. Intelligent, honest people can read Scripture and come up with different understandings. Accepting simple answers and ignoring sound principles of exegesis makes for marginal comprehension if not misunderstanding. Learning how to read Scripture isn't rocket science but it does require more than a shallow reading of a text. Most Christians are unfamiliar with the concept of biblical inspiration and few are aware of the process of compiling, editing, and preserving the ancient manuscripts we know as 'Scripture.'

Clearly Mc Arthur: what does Wright do with John 14 1-3 ? Where does he place the wedding of the Lamb ? I guess he is a post-millennialist … The problem nowadays is that we are feeling so well in this world that we try to adapt our theological view so as to stick down here ! What about the great tribulation ? Does he fancy going through it? The wedding of the Lamb will be during that terrible time on earth and then we will come back with the Lord for the 1000 years reign !

The rapture happens when Jesus comes in the clouds and His Bride is "snatched away"....the dead in Christ rise first then those who are still alive are lifted up to join Him so we will forever be with the Lord. At the Second coming of Jesus, He comes on a white horse with His army to destroy the man of lawlessness with the breath of His mouth....these events - the Rapture and the Second coming of Jesus are clearly two distictly different events with the tribulation occuring after the rapture and before the return of Jesus, (the second coming), to earth. What Bridegroom would see His bride go through the shattering events of the tribulation? That an intelligent man like N. T. Wright can't see this is beyond extraordinary, it simply beggars belief!! For those who say the rapture isn't Biblical an understanding of Koine Greek, the language in which the New Testament was written is vital.
Thess 4: 17 uses the verb harpagesometha which means "we shall be caught up" or "we shall be taken away". The dictionary form of this verb is harpazõ.

I'm a MacArthur fan but, I believe that NT Wright has a more convincing argument on this subject.

I agree with Dr MacArthur, because that's what the Bible says.... it's simply stated throughout scripture. Pre trib rapture.

The rapture is very clear. The issue I see that a lot of Christians equate Wrath and Tribulation as being the same thing. They are VERY different. Wrath is what God will do to the world. Tribulation is what the world does to us Christians. We are not appointed to God's wrath, but we will go through tribulation, the bible says. Once you understand that, it will help you understand where you stand on the rapture theory.

There are people who I love and respect on both sides of this issue. It always hurts me how the common line from both sides regarding the other is, "they don't read their bibles! It's right there they just don't know the word!" When both sides I know study the Tanakh and the B'rit Hadashah (what we call old testament and new testament)

I keep looking to God for direction in this and the only consistent thing I feel that I'm being pointed to by the spirit is to continue loving and serving and blessing and encouraging and warning the people around me in the name of Jesus.

The Bible says the saints are not appointed to wrath. The tribulation is a time of God's wrath on those who have rejected his gift of salvation by Jesus. I believe in the rapture.

As in Noah's days. They weren't removed from the wrath, they were protected from the wrath to come . They were kept safe in the ark.
