When you use borax, oxyclean is not needed... borax can also replace bleach usage in whites, it really get stains out well

My great grandmother bathe us in Fels Napa when we caught the measels from the neighbors kids. After the 2nd bath, it literally went away. When I went to the doctor the following week, the doctor was shocked that the sores weren't there. My mother told him what was used & he smiled. This was a well known remedy back in the day & he was pleased that the old wives remedies was still being used. He started coming to my g.grandma when he was ill or couldn't help certain patients.

I have been making my own laundry soap for roughly 10 yrs for my family of 3. I have made about 3 or 4 five gallon buckets of soap. One being liquid detergent. You only need about 1 tbsp for a small load and 2 for a large. You definitely don't need a cup of soap for a large load. I also use the same ingredient minus Fels Nafta, and I blend the ingredients with a blender, but that is my preference. My last 5 gallon bucket lasted me 1.5 yrs.

I see comments about using only 2 tablespoons of detergent per load😐 and you’re probably right BUT we (black people) use a full cup and a bunch of scent boosters🤷🏽‍♀️ it’s just an unspoken rule, that’s how we do it😂😂😂

Seems like a better buy just to buy tide.

I was always taught to add the laundry detergent to the washer first and then the clothes.

U only need 2 tbsp if it doesnt have too much of the unstoppables in the scoop. Think 2tbsp of the soap mix without the downy scent pebbles. It will mess up your washers if you use too much. A tale tell sign is if your clothes is coming out feeling kinda "crunchy", then that means you are pouring too much of that soap. And it wont ruin your clothes over time. I spend $40 without the unstoppables and it lasts me about 9 months for a family of 6 (including 4 kids).

You can also just buy a normal jug of detergent, BUT you only use either a teaspoon or a tablespoon of detergent each load.

I don’t add borax bc I’m allergic to it too I buy powder color close detergent from Dollar Tree instead & it boosts up the cleaning odors & even stains…if you got stain use stain remover spray from Dollar Tree it’s amazing stuff not just for laundry I use on rugs couch chairs etc

I'd have to hire somebody to do this for me. I'm exhausted just watching you do it.
On second thought, I'll just keep buying my already made laundry detergent. Some things are just worth the money.😅

I do 2- 3 large loads per week. At $126 for 6 months divided by 4 times a month, it’s $5.25 per week with 1 scoop. It’s cheaper if I purchase regular powdered detergent or liquid pods unless I use 2 tablespoons per large load.

I tried this recipe without the unstoppables cuz of our sensitive skin, but it’s amazing!! Thank you for sharing this

That pre grated zote will not dissolve well and leave spots on your clothes. Just FYI. I always grate the bar instead.

You could have just bought regular detergent in bulk for cheaper 🤨

All those scent boosters 👀 your drum gotta be caked with fabric softer. I hope you do weekly/monthly deep cleans on your washer.

I've been using this almost exact recipe (w/o unstoppables) for last 8 years and I love it! Even with the cost of everything going up, it's still economical, lasts longer and no skin issues! I've used both Fels Naptha and the Zote flakes, and I prefer the FN!
