I just kinda wanna mention I believe that the CEO of Arrowhead mentioned he's not super satisfied with the weapons and their performance right now. I believe they also mentioned they're gonna be adding in more "customization" to weapons, similarly to Helldivers 1.

This gun seriously needs a 30round magazine. 15 is ridiculous.

Almost every weapon is upgradeable in HD1. The HD1 version of the scorcher had 10 rounds. First upgrade gives you 20 rounds per mag. The second upgrade lights enemies on fire. It does aoe so everything caught within the shot will be set on fire. Hopefully they will bring back the upgrade tree.

I feel like the advantage this gun should offer is massive magazine size. It's an energy weapon that unfortunately doesn't offer any advantages over the ballistic weapons in the game in regards to damage output, fire rate, or armor penetration so the logical advantage it should provide in my mind is that it should be the gun you almost never need to resupply. Very odd that they went the opposite direction with it.

it should strip armor off of enemies. and after a while every gun should be able to damage the striped part. so if you say unload a couple shots around the head area of a hulk, every gun can now damage that head and kill it.

I’ve been taking to my friends nonstop about how they need to add a weapon upgrade system to the game, I feel like 90 percent of the guns in the game feel like they need a buff and bringing the upgrade system back would be perfect. I’m very excited to see the future content for this game and what it’s going to look like years from now.

As I've seen posted before, the weapons in Helldivers 2 feel like they were all developed by different individuals, none of whom were talking to each other while they did it. Unless there's an upgrade system coming like you said, similar to HD1, many of the weapons have absolutely no reason to use them other than for flavour or additional challenge. In regards to the PLAS, if the ammo situation isn't changed, it should hurt medium armor and/or apply a plasma burn effect imo

Once they solve their server coding issue, I hope with all the game data they have funneling in, they can tell which weapons are performing the best versus the ones that are lackluster. Instead of nerfing, I hope they bring up other weapons effectiveness. I've been using the Liberator Penetrator on bots just to change it up but I can't pass up the breaker when it comes to bugs. It's just too good at what it does. I've tried using other weapons but they just don't perform as well as the breaker. Especially when it comes to chargers. 2 shots with a railgun to one of their legs and unload the breaker on the weak point and they're dead in seconds. No other weapon can do that and I've tried. The closest kill time would be the Defender submachine gun. Between the Breaker, Defender Sub and Liberator Penetrator, i dont think any other primary is worth their salt atm. The only time I use other primaries is on lower difficulties to help other players lvl or get samples. Suicide or higher you kinda need to run the most effective builds and team comps. Because you're hindering yourself once you start dealing with multiple heavy units.

I actually rather like that it's not a case of "the best weapon is at the end". This makes it more of a new toy to play with that has an alternative playstyle or focus. You might like it, you might not, but the fun is the fact you can look forward to working your way to unlocking it so you can find out if it's the gun for you. Keeping balance in mind so that it's not an automatic "best gun ever" is good imo.

I think a lot of the guns need a buff. As it stands there's not much reason to use anything, but the Breaker. In Helldivers 1 I got good use out of most of the weapons. Some were stronger, especially against certain enemy types, but you could use them if you wanted. Adding some of the upgrades from Helldivers 1 could help. Things like stuns and penetrating targets to add more utility. I also think the guns had more ammo in Helldivers 1.

I don't know if I can agree on this one... kill time is one thing but 15 rounds with the reload time is a challenge, plus on higher difficulties you are guaranteed to be in close range run and gun battles and the explosion damage from a close range kill will often take you down with it.
