It's so odd to me that some nail techs will cut living tissue even though that's like rule #1 when in cosmetology school, like they hammered that point home every single day lmao

It makes me so mad when people cut their cuticles and or say “It’s just taking care of your nails!” No it’s not, it’s the opposite.

I’ve cut my cuticles 2x in my entire life. I’m only 25 so far but I feel like this definitely depends on what you do with your hands. Style wise but also hygienic wise. Because yeah no, you do not need to remove your cuticles for no reason😂

Also PSA for people who do gel nails by themselves. Make sure you don’t have any gel up under your cuticles. It can also cause infections

It's gets worse than this in some cases. I had the same thing happen to my thumb, one morning I woke up with my arm feeling sore and a red line travelling along it. The infection had invaded my lymphatic system. Luckily a Visit to the out of hours GP at the local hospital and some antibiotics later in the night (and for the next week) helped it clear up pretty quickly.

something like that happened to me once. i used to wear a jacket that had thick zippers on the pockets, and i was so used to getting my hands in and out of them, it was a time where i took the bus every day. i don't know how, but i hurt my finger with the zippers. it because infected. there was pus coming out of my cuticle area, it smelled like shit and it also hurt a lot. thankfully, i got it resolved by myself. i just sanitized a needle, drained the fluid, and put my finger into a glass of water and salt, every day. weird thing is that it permanently damaged my nail, it has little tiny holes and stuff like that, fucking texture 😭 it's getting better over the years though... it was five years ago

One time my entire nail fell off! I slapped my finger on a brick when running. It grew back

I went in one time, the girl reaked of last night's booze, then a random man came in and cleaned his nails with her tools while I was sitting there with my hand in dirty water. She said, oh that was my dad, like that made it OK. I suddenly remembered another appointment or a funeral I needed to go to.
