The pink stuff is acrylic. They are building a new nail so that when it is polished it looks normal.

Your smile after stating "You won't feel a thing..." after receiving the numbing shot followed by the cut in scene made me relive the experience I had when I was younger 😂. The numbing SHOTS hurt worse than the procedure. If you have an ingrown nail get to a podiatrist. It'll save you a life time of pain.

The style of treatment is modeled after how Korean podiatrists treat the nails. The only difference is they're using that weird tool instead of a wire to force the nail matrix to grow at a new angle. If you want to check out some good examples of how Korean podiatrists treat ingrowns, if you look up "fresh foot" on YouTube it will pop up. Since the majority of people don't speak Korean, you wouldn't know, but throughout every step of the process, the doctor is asking if what they're doing is alright and if there is any pain. Also, the reason for cleaning under before cutting is to allow an area for the wire to grip onto without debris in the way so it can straighten the nail without slipping. They cut close after because sometimes the wire straightening can slip out of place if the nail is already cut to the correct length.

I had an ingrown toenail which was just like a newly ingrown nail. I just simply inserted a really small ball of cotton into the corner of the nail between the nail and the skin below it. It wasn’t painful at all like I just inserted the size of cotton ball I was comfortable with. I changed the cotton every night. And also I used cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol. It lifted my toenail a bit. And after 3 days the nail had grown a bit. So at that point, the nail was above the skin level. Then I cut my nail where it was just at the edge of the skin. *MAKE SURE YOU CUT YOUR NAIL STRAIGHT FROM ONE CORNER TO THE OTHER AND NOT IN A CURVE* it has been more than a year and i haven’t had that nail grow into my skin again mainly because I never again let it to be at a level that it could grow into my skin, I cut my nails such that it is a little above my skin.

I went through it 5 times. The most recent time without any pain meds.

They put some in me but none of them worked so the doctor just went all in and was like “I’m almost done- almost done- I’m alone done” for about 5-10 minutes while cutting my toe open.
