As a Journeyman Electrician:

This splice type would not pass inspection if the Inspector decided to look into a box and I deem this an unsafe way to perform a splice. The proper way to do a splice is to cut back the wires about two inches, you match the end of the insulation up and

***Solid wire on stranded wire:***
Individually grab the solid by the end and wrap it clockwise around the stranded x3 tightly and grabbing the end of both twist all clockwise around each other x3 twist them tightly using a pair of klein's. After cut off any ends that may have been bitten into by the tool used (klein's). This will make the splice nearly impossible to pull out even without use of a marrett to hold it. When applying the marrett making sure no copper/aluminum wire will hang out of a marrett, Then twist the marrett as well in a clockwise fashion by hand until it doesn't move and then give it a quarter turn with your klein's.

***People should be more concerned about how their homes are wired, at very least perform an individual tug test to ensure the wires cannot come out.***

Cinch down on that wire-nut just a little more, but not so much as to break the wires. Wire-nut possibly too big too. And if you are going to tape, do so in the other direction.

Hey thanks for sharing! Im no electrician but the one thing I noticed was that you taped in the opposite direction of your wire nut. Shouldn't the tape be applied clockwise in the same direction of the twisted wires to prevent them from unraveling?
How far should you strip the wire back before splicing? I have a few splices in my crib that show copper just a bit outside of the wire nut so I taped them but after watching electrical safety, i'm a bit concerned with having any copper showing.

OK, this is the second video I've seen where instructor does not twist the wires together to get a good physical connection for the wires before adding the wire nut. I think how your are doing this is a mistake. I am only here because I am sick of finding problems with wire nuts where there is not enough surface contact between the two wires to conduct electricity because you have assumed, incorrectly, that the wire nut alone does an adequate, permanent job of holding wires together.

What do you do if the light flickers on and off when you turn it on after doing this?

Remove this video, immediately, and don't ever post another one which endangers the lives and property of the people who might watch it. You should be ashamed of yourself.

It's the wrong way to do it. You must pre twist wires so the look like a twizzler to ensure a safe connection.

Sorry but you didn't splice those wire together. Remove this video it could cause fires in peoples homes. I know your trying to good by helping people out and get views but this could get people hurt.
