Biceps brachii tendons

The anatomy of the biceps brachii muscle in the arm is fairly clear, but it's tendons are interesting, a little tricky to follow, and are often the location of injury.

Excellent and helpful, as usual! (And more publicity for that ever-important hub of activity The Shoulder.) Thank you!!

Thank you Sam for refining my understanding! I appreciate these short lectures focused on a particular structure as they complement well your lectures on more regional anatomy. The long head of biceps tendon is a very important landmark in musculoskeletal ultrasound of the shoulder as tenosynovitis or inflammation of the tendon will cause anterior shoulder pain mimicking rotator cuff disease. Subluxation of the tendon during resisted supination can be seen with ultrasound. We can also use ultrasound to accurately guide injections into the sheath with major improvement of pain. Can I inspire you to do a lecture on the fat pads in the elbow and their clinical relevance?

The supination mechanism is hard to understand. Why is the distal tendon at risk of tearing when the arm is extended and supinated?

i guess it should be tying down the ( tendon ) within the bicipital groove, not the ligament . i guess prof
