Last time I rowed was 19 years ago, I was a kid, and I didn't succeed to do so, it was a confusing motion, it's about 3 AM and I will be rowing in 3 hours.

I'm 23 and just finished restoring a 16ft SpringBok Flat Back Aluminum Canoe. And today I managed to find oars for it and I plan on learning to row. I have a 55lb electric trolling motor too that hooks up to an 80w solar panel. The plan is to practice rowing but also charges the battery while doing so. I've also added a 16ft roll of water proof led lights (12v) for rowing at night it illuminates the water surrounding the boat.

Sorry my point is this was the most helpful video I've found at 4am lol

Very helpful, rowing has become a lost art. I have a ten foot aluminum boat with oarlocks. Am selling the outboard motor and returning to only rowing. Thanks for posting.

The best! This answered all our rowboat questions!!

Rowing those clunky aluminum fishing boats is what turned me off rowing as a kid.  It wasn't until many years later that I discovered proper, traditional rowing forms.

yes, but slower and calmer is better for long distance. Inefficient as shown.

I have mirror on mine... It clamps on the side... You need to see who or what is coming... People are crazy on the water these days...

It's 4:30 am. Why am i curious about rowing a boat????

It's a lot less work than portrayed here. Fiberglass drift boats and lighter weight counter balanced oars, spaced at slightly less than shoulder width is physiologically more efficient.

Wouldn’t it be better to tie to a little clear after you get done oaring?

Having some experience with rowing now, I can say, NO! My boat is an inflatable that doesn't matter which way it goes, and it spins very quickly. I can understand why you would choose to row backwards, but it's just as idiotic as running backwards because it's easier to be constantly falling back. Rowing forwards also feels much more natural, and you can see exactly what you are doing with the oars, like when you are placing your feet in front of you. You can sit in many positions, kneel or lie down even! If I did it your way I would be smashing into floating debris just below the surface like logs and all sorts of stuff I never saw coming!

my husband just took me today and every time he was rowing a ton of water would end up in my mouth and face is that normal? i sat across in front of him facing him and he kept hitting my knees with the oars as well. Just curious if thats normal? is was super uncomfortable. Trying to figure out if thats normal, otherwise i think he was doing it to bother me since he was drunk and being a jerk
