I'm glad the lady that caused the accident was arrested but I feel so bad for the driver's family.

I was in a house fire when I was 2 and a half years old and burned over %86 of my body so seeing the first clip brought back those memories and the firefighters who helped and they commented when they found me I was curled up and tiny (my entire body looked like I rolled in coal or as I say a roast chicken LOL) I still visit them but I know one firefighter quit because of when he found and had to carry me out of that burning house, he just kept repeating how tiny I was and that it would stick with him for the rest of his life… my father had smoke inhalation and was only given 48 hours to live because he realized I was still in the house he went back in but couldn’t find me so once they arrived they had to hold my father back from running back into the apartment to save me (which was why he had such bad smoke inhalation) and while they were holding him back he collapsed, my mother suffered burns on her whole arm and side of the neck and on her entire back but okay for the most part… so both my parents were halo flighted to a different hospital while I was flown to Galveston and taken to Shriners children burn hospital on a halo flight where I coded 3 times on the way, my siblings only sustained minor injuries but it was still traumatic for them of course and they were given to my aunt to watch. So whenever I see cases like this it just reminds me of how hard firefighters work ❤

QUESTION FOR FIREFIGHTERS:
Wondering about the “rule of thumb” that Dan the fireman said around @3:58 ? How far away do you put your thumb? My Dad was always a fireman in our small towns, and I’ve been to some amazing fire practices as a child. One was a huge old country house and I had no healthy respect for fire at that young age — just sheer amazement and curiosity. I was standing so close that I ended up with what looked like a pretty bad sunburn when I got home, and I knew I’d be in trouble and didn’t complain but my face and arms told on me the next morning. I’m guessing I was waaayy closer than I should’ve been, especially without ppe. I didn’t back up until something big popped loudly and went flying out from the house a little adjacent to me. The firemen all retreated a bit and regrouped and I decided to go nibble some potluck desserts. I was drawn to that fire like a mosquito to a bug zapper. And yes, I knew not to get “too close”. I just didn’t know what too close was.

Maybe “smell the birthday cake, and blow out the candles..” cause there’s a lot of distinctive smells associated w birthday cake, but that sure did work. Plus, familiar ppl like the grandma can allow the patient to act out their own stress, great move to clear the ambulance.
