“its gotta be a horrible situation having seizures, waking up not knowing where you are”
“they’re not doing it on purpose, they’re not doing it to hurt you, they’re terrified”
as someone who had late onset seizures starting randomly at age 16 iv never felt more validated knowing people like this understand what we’re going through

As an experienced emergency nurse I find this so important that the general population understand what we deal with and why we do what we do we are never trying to hurt or harm anyone, our actions are always about the safety of the patient and the public...

Thank you to the EMTs who treated the man in the postictal state so respectfully.

It’s beyond disorienting coming out of a seizure.

You wake up on the ground and have a bunch of people standing around you, touching you and what feels like 2 seconds before you were just standing in your kitchen having a conversation with a family member and you have ZERO idea what happened and who all these people swarming you are.

First guy, the black medic talking to Joe, had me in tears. What a beautiful soul.

That guy they had to restrain legitimately sounded like a bear trying to break free.

Mr. Joe: I'm dead..
Ems techs: hooks up vitals and get nothing.
Mr. Joe: Yep, dead....

That uber-strong, incoherently snarling guy straining to break free is the start of every zombie film ever.

For joe, the first guy. He wasnt agressive, he seemed very scared and out of it. Whenever drugs he took were messing him up. I bet he was terrified. I hope hes doing much better.

This makes me so sad. My two daughters have epilepsy and I worry so much about them growing up and living their own. postictal for one of my kids is much longer than the other. Thank you for doing what you do and always coming to the rescue.

After almost 20 years on the streets, (3 yrs EMT ➡️ 15 yrs paramedic and educator), I appreciate y’all highlighting these situations. I hope it helps the public see that we really try to help people who are confused and need us to advocate and make sure they get medical help, ideally without combat or restraints of any kind.

Also note that we do it with very little backup, no weapons, and safe outcomes even when our lives are being threatened. Cops can too. And many police killings could be prevented. Do not fall for the copaganda and make sure your rights are being protected, so that EVERYONE can go home safely, not just the cops.

I appreciate our working relationship as we back each other up, but I can say from firsthand experience that the power and militarized weaponry has gotten out of hand. Protect your rights and tax dollars from the growing police state. Don’t tell nobody I told you that though k? lol 😉

Can some of these EMTs run for president someday? They're so understanding of humanity in its many forms.
