Excellent, comprehensive video. I will be sending people to this one in the future when they ask me for free advice about performing the pendlay row.

Really good video. One of the best Pendlay ones I've seen. The Pendlay row has always been my row of choice. Feel like regular barbel rows and Yates rows rely too much on momentum.

If you are the same dude that worked out with that monster Cailer Woolam doing HEAVY ass barbell rows etc., your form on them heavy barbell rows was damn near perfect despite the weight.
That's where I got the idea that I will start each back workout with a compound set of barbell rows and Romanian deadlifts. I might mix them up by doing (say) three reps each and repeat three times gripping the bar the whole time. So, 3x3 (9) reps each for 18 reps total in one set. As the weight gets heavier each set I will start doing pendlay rows instead of regular (Yates) rows with overhand grip. I might even throw blocks under the plates so as not to tax my lower back too much. Then I will finish with regular heavy deadlifts and do some (weighted) chins and/or pull-ups and hanging shrugs to finish off the back workout with a nice spinal strech and some added lat work.

i just started doing pendlay rows today. i usually do lying t rows for mid back, but i wanted to try something different. I like how this exercise looks and the power you need to get it done but i gott say, i didn't feel much. it was exhausting as hell doing it and i was pulling 195 lbs at my heaviest set today but i didn't really feel any activation in my back the way it feels on lying t rows. its possible my form was a little off by not activating my lats and having an arch but regardless, i was pulling decent weight and all i did was sweat alot. unless, pendlay rows take some time to feel since its a new way of getting my back.
