How To: Pendlay Row | 3 GOLDEN RULES (EXPLOSIVE BACK GROWTH!)

If you want explosive back growth, this is the exercise you need to add to your workout. That's because a PENDLAY ROW will allow you to overload you back to the MAX and even though you CAN use a bit of momentum to pull the barbell off the ground, you're still moving DEAD WEIGHT on every rep which is very different from overloading on a traditional barbell bent-over row.

I went to the gym and asked for a baahbell. They sent me back home.

Scott, the type of guy who retracts his scapula when carrying the whole fitness industry on his back.

After watching this today was the first time in 20 years that I've conducted a back exercise without even a twinge of discomfort. Thank you Scott Herman.

I just cannot do this in my gym without the trainers and gym-bros interrupting my workout to "correct my form"

I added this exercise into my current strength focused weekly program, and I feel strange that I am only doing this exercise in the gym among, and even more startled as a female. Feeling the urge to tell lifters you don't know what you're missing, but intimidated to do so as female who lifts lower weights. This exercise really feels good! Came across your tutorial after I filmed my self to compare my form with a proper demonstration. Thank you so much! liked and subscribed of course!

Its an amazing exercise. I actually prefer the pendlay row over the "traditional" bent over row. Much more easy on the lower back and that explosion from the ground with big weights will take your back to a level that bent over rows cant reach.
Another great video Scott! keep up the good work

I've never done Pendlay rows. Tomorrow is back and biceps, I think I'll incorporate a few sets of this towards beginning of my workout.

I'm glad more people are talking about this lift. It's really good. Although I'd also like to ask, have you seen a variation called the dead row, where you put the bar on safety bars set at about knee-level, with your back closer to a bent over row angle, and lift explosively from the safety bars, then putting it back to a dead state before explosively pulling again? I'm curious what your thoughts are on it. I know you're probably sick of hearing "Jeff Cavalliere said..." from other topics, but I'd be curious what your thoughts on his "dead row" variation of his are, and if you think it's legit or not.

Also: "The deadlift is NOT a back exercise!" THANK YOU! Too many people seem to treat it like that, and I just can't understand it. It's a big full-body compound movement. It does help your back, but if anything I think the lower body has more to do with it than anything else.
