Met him randomly about 3 years ago at a gas station outside Wichita Falls. We were on our way back from a camping trip in Colorado. I had to return the rented travel trailer in Dallas. He noticed and was concerned about a low trailer tire I had. I had already planned to air it up and couldn’t believe who I was talking to. He shrugged off my fan boy excitement as you would expect and returned the focus to my tire. My wife and six kids were in the towing vehicle. I appreciate his no nonsense concern.

I like how the Art of Manliness guy just STFUs and lets the man talk.

I really appreciate the safety talk. All video's I've seen on Youtube focus on good form for better results, never on not dying.

I was always told "don't arch your back". But as the pounds increased, so did the pain. As to avoid pain, I started to arch and I found a lower drop area eased my pain. I found out the hard way. This man is exactly correct. Wish I had seen this decades ago!!!

Awww, I was hoping this video would show me how to bench press with Mark Rippetoe. Instead it's just a video on how to bench press, with Mark Rippetoe.

This is one of the first times I’ve heard somebody explain the full mechanics of a bench press. The actual reason on why you arch your chest and push your shoulders into the bench..

I just love this guy!! You can see that he truly knows what the hell he's talking about. He reminds me much of my old gym instructor.. Somehow, when I watch these videos I feel at home and in good hands, almost like if I were there with you.. Keep dem vids coming! :)

I really like how he points out during the bench you need to lock out and then rack- especially if tired. Excellent work. Love this dude.

0:32-0:51 These 15 seconds alone already tell you why Rippetoe truly understands human physical strength. Great video

Great video! No matter how long you’ve been doing an exercise it’s always good to get a reminder of proper form and function on occasion.

Starting Strength is the most useful book I’ve found on getting the essential lifts with proper form. My shoulders and back sure wish I’d had this guidance when I was young. It would have meant a lot less pain and doctor visits.

I’ve done bodybuilding for almost 10 years, and used the bench press for around 20, and I’ve never seen a more accurate explanation of perfect form and etiquette.
Very nice 👍
