I see they took “Beware of over delivery” to their management style as well

What’s so damning is that there’s like 3 people in games journalism/reporting that are pretty much always right, and 2 of them (Grubb and Schrier) have given substantive evidence towards our worst fears of the Bungie collapse. Tough stuff.

Destiny is just our troubled marriage. All we did was go to a getaway resort called “Final Shape” for a week or two to rekindle our love and it worked. It was amazing! But now that we’ve been back home, everything is back to the way it used to be. Some of us loyal ones are in it til death do us apart and the braver ones are filing for divorce.

Taking a stand on social issues dont mean squat when you cant even take care of your own people...they are just seeing that now.

I think it's clear. Bungie wanted to become a multi-IP studio after being a single-IP one. But instead of building up slowly, adding 1 IP at a time, they pursued many projects concurrently. I think what we're seeing now is a recalibrated Bungie that is doing what they should have all along. Hoping it works out for them because they make great games

Remember, when Bungie had to do pay cuts to positions, they were asked, "will any of these cuts apply to higher management?" And they were quoted in that interview saying, "we're not that kind of comapny"

Was Pete Parsons the witness or the Winower? Because we killed the Witness and Pete still has a job.

It's incredible how much people they hired for "incubation projects" and not destiny... I mean, as much as I love TFS, you can feel the lack of attention to the game, Destiny is a unique game. No matter how much you love or hate, they did something great with this, very obvious with so many "destiny killers" already dead. Destiny could be a more ambitious project with the proper leadership and attention to the community, I hope they understand that.

I really hope that either bungie restructures it's higher ups or hands destiny 2 to a company that cares for it's developers and workers

Obviously that $15 starter pack would have saved Bungie

Pete Persons is likely an opportunist. Siding with popular wave of social movements was an opportunity for good PR.

I heard Bungie is adding all of Pete Parsons cars as Sparrows in the Eververse store.

I have actually been enjoying the first descendant. I do miss Destiny, but if you’re a veteran there is nothing really to keep you entertained for more than a few days now. It’s really just become a part time game for me as a veteran.

In software development - "refactoring" carries a specific meaning, of changing the way the insides work, without affecting how the outsides behave. It is usually something you do to clean things up, to improve performance, make things easier to maintain, etc - without having to change everything else that connects to it, uses it, etc. It may just be product speak for "reworking" the experience of ritual activities, but if they mean it literally on a technical level, there may be limitations technically that are holding them back from doing more drastic changes and improvements.

FPS podcast is excellent, Ralph has come a very long way from covering Division 1 man. He’s one of the best reviewers working right now imo.

The irony of having a boss protest for "racial justice" and various "human rights" while also forcing hundreds of people out of a job AND blowing millions of dollars on useless garbage while those hundreds of people suffer...

There is a consistent trend in the world where the people who align themselves with political correctness the loudest are often some of the worst types of people.

Say what you want about the BLM protests/riots back in 2020.

But if you actually thought Parsons was being genuine when he voiced his support for BLM, you are hopelessly naive.

No one who does a good thing, while actually meaning it, would go out of their way to tell anyone about it.

Now it's one thing if you're asked about it (privately), but it's another thing to advertise it (like what Parsons did), as it shows you never really meant it, and you only did it to receive praise and recognition, and that it was nothing more but an empty virtue signal.

"I went to that protest yesterday!"

1. Good for you.

2. I don't remember asking.

3. Why do we need to know?
