As a rule of thumb, I aim to be respectful of my players' time. How long is the game you are making going to be?
Also, let me know what kinds of other game design topics you'd like to see on here!

@Turbo Makes Games Hey, will you be taking part in the GitHub Game Off 2020 jam this year?

I should really consider making my games longer. Currently, all the games that I have publicly released are pretty short, and the games I am currently working on are also pretty short. Then again, I am currently remastering Keep Control, and I plan to make it a full blown story, instead of that 15(-ish) minute story I had initially.

As a player, I do look at games partly as a time spent/monetary cost ratio. Ideally, I want to get at least 4 times the time out of a game than I would get for a similar monetary investment at the movies.

Thanks for the video. It's an interesting topic. The game I'm making now has a really squishy player time. It doesn't exactly end. In truth it will probably be better if at some arbitrary point they "win" the game even though they can just keep playing.

Simply put short games are more likely to get pirated because of value for money proposition anything less than 10 hours is most likely to get pirated. Larger games on the other hand feels more value for money for same price or just little more than those short games. Its human behaviour you cant help with that.
