Being "next Cyberpunk" would be a step up from being Fallout 76.

It really annoys me that everyone keeps talking about avoiding being the next Cyberpunk 2077, when Bethesda set the bar for rushed, sloppy, careless, poorly-managed disasters years before CDPR. It's far more fair and accurate to say that Starfield was almost the next Fallout 76. And frankly, I see no reason to suspect that this delay alone will avert that scenario; this is still Bethesda we're talking about.

The game isn't out yet. It didn't dodge anything. It can still be the next Cyberpunk. CP2077 was delayed multiple times, it was still a cluster fuck. Halo Infinite was delayed multiple times, still a clusterfuck.

I'll still be wearing my hard hat until release. Cyberpunk was delayed multiple times and look how that turned out. I'm not taking Bethesda's word for it.

I mean companies are delaying games all the time and those games still come out buggy and broken. I hope I'm wrong but this doesn't instill confidence for the launch of the game. Not to mention Bethesda's reputation for releasing broken games at launch.

Delaying a game is pointless if the underlying reason for the delay isn't addressed. That is usually either mismanagement, dev incompetence or a combination of both.

It´s a Bethesda game, they could develop it for 30 years and still will be plaged with bugs that modders will fix in the first week.

Redfall sounds like another looter shooter live service game but the the reason why the marketing has been so confusing around that is because the devs are too afraid to say it's another looter shooter live service game given how many of them have been failing recently.

I would rather see games delayed and released in a full playable form rather than these half finished games that need (and sometimes receive) a giant patch in the first week.Thank you for another great episode.

arkane has to be one of the biggest "wasted potential" studios in the industry and it looks like they're going to continue on that course.
Seriously, Dark Messiah and Dishonored 1 were TOP TIER games, the best in their genre. Ever since then it has been a steady downhill road.

they wouldn't delay it for that long just to polish it up (especially if we didn't see anything yet). Those games aren't remotely done and they are taking extra time to bring it to the MVP level (minimum viable product). polishing is merely there to appease, not to sell for Bethesda

I am still on guard. Cyberpunk was delayed so many times as did Dying light 2 and they were still buggy messes

People really have selective memory. Every major Bethesda release since 2002 has shipped with plenty of bugs, some game breaking, and many of these bugs have either not been patched, or were fixed by the community for free. Bethesda wrote the book on broken launches.

Oh because it's not like Cyberpunk had delays... oh, oh no. It did. Just because this got delayed longer doesn't mean it'll be good.

"Next Cyberpunk" They refuse to accept their own mistakes and instead choose to shit on another dev studio. The word you are looking for is "76."

Either way tho, it is fucking GREAT news that they delayed it, thank the gods.

This is Bethesda, is it not?
"It just works", right?
Right.

Speaking as someone who poured over a thousand hours into Skyrim, due to being a modder - and thus someone who took a look under the bonnet - I would say nobody has any reason to expect anything less than the normal Bethesda experience.
Which is to say, increasingly dumbed down gameplay and increasingly sketchy QA.

Considering Beth put out a 10 year Skyrim edition and it still had tons of the same bugs in it, I'm not thinking a delay is as awesome as one may believe. I also think Microsoft made the decision cause Todd would not do that. That is admitting he failed at something.

I don’t know about “dodged.” It’s the new trend for a game to be delayed months and years and still release with 25% of the content in a pre-alpha state it never recovers from.

Shouldn’t this headline read: Starfield was almost Fallout ‘76?

…And it still could be. Little early to say Starfield is any good at all.

Cyberpunk still needed 2 more years of delays. Halo infinite still needed 3 more years of delays. Starfield might need 4 more years of delays
