I don't actually want a PS5 Pro.
I want a PS5 Slim with a smaller price tag.

The amount of games released that really take advantage of the ps5 hardware can be counted on one hand. Most games have been cross gen with ps4 thus far, it would be asinine to release a pro system when so few games have been delivering on the power of the system that’s out there.

Spider Man 2 is one of the first true aaa Sony games for ps5, which is insane because it’s been out for two years, almost everything else like god of war has been targeting ps4 primarily. Games like Demon’s Souls which really take advantage of the system are few and far between. Unreal 5 aaa games haven’t even started releasing yet either.
Fortnite is one of the few games that uses it and it’s still very impressive how it runs 60fps with RT lighting, reflections and global illumination, it shows how new hardware isn’t really needed because devs aren’t even taking advantage of what’s there.

I don’t really understand the hype behind 8K because I can’t tell the difference between it, 4K and 1080p.

8k is only necessary on IMAX screens, there is no need to have that resolution in a TV

For the record, MT/s are per memory module, and the PS5’s is rated at 14000 MT/S. Also WGP is how AMD arranges there’s Compute units, 2 per WGP. So 60 CUs to the PS5s 36. To me it read as someone who isn’t very technical not knowing what questions to ask, but wanting to be first to the scoop. The same guy also leaked the Sony Streaming handheld, the detachable disk drive and the ear buds.

I'm probably a minority among gamers, but honestly speaking...I still haven't really felt the need to even get a 4K TV...

Development cycles are already taking too long as is, if the industry had any sense it would focus on a maximum performance target of 4K 120 FPS for the next decade at least.

Customers don't want a PS5 pro. They want games

I doubt a PS5 Pro is coming simply because the current gaming landscape doesn necessitate it *at all.* Sony only put out the PS4 Pro when the base PS4’s sales started slowing, and it added notable improvements that at least enticed current owners to upgrade. Whereas the PS5 is already so powerful in terms of its hardware and features that any improvements that could possibly be made to it are minimal at best. And there’s also the fact that PS5s haven’t been readily available until recently due to the chip shortage and scalpers.
Maybe we will get a PS5 Pro eventually, but I doubt it’ll be until the next year or two. Or in my personal prediction, I just feel like Sony won’t make a Pro model at all and save whatever future revisions they’ll make for the PS6.

No need for a Pro just yet but a Slim would be great

"Why the PS5 Pro isn't coming"

Is it because it doesn't have the exclusives to justify it?

We are just barely starting to get out of the cross gen phase and people are already talking about a ps5 pro.

There is also the fact that ps5s for the first 2+ years where basically impossible to find. They’re are still on tonne of people who will buy base ps5s and Sony knows that.

Do i think a pro will eventually come? Yes, but i still think it will be a bit yet.

I think that no developer first or third party has pushed the limits of the current platforms and no need for a Pro model. I think the reason they existed last time was to prepare for 4K development initially. Hexadrive was the only studio I know that was ahead as the original Okami HD was built in 4K just couldn't display till hardware was ready, Hexadrive was preparing their tech knowledge is impressive.

Just for clarification on use of the term “concept art” regarding a screenshot resembling such. If it was given a render quality for promotion and polished as such, that’s illustration, concept art is allowed to contain roughness as concept artists are supposed to be non-committal to one idea as working on multiple drafts for feedback is much more effecient for studio workflow. It’s why in the BOTW artbook we got that scary crab and tall skull art in sketch form, it was tossing ideas to the team.

We don't need a PS5 pro to begin with they're still having trouble getting the regular PS5 in people's hands

I actually laughed when I heard 8k. No way.

before Sony release 8k, they should target 4k 60-120 fps first.

I just don’t believe it because DreamcastGuy is the biggest source, and he was the one saying the PS5 would play games at 8K natively before it came out 😂

Pedantry alert:

2:31 The correct unit *is* megatransfers per second as far as DDR—double data rate—RAM is concerned, regardless of whether it’s DDR3, 4, or 5 (DDR6 is not yet commercially available): two transfers per clock cycle. And, you will find the more technically inclined—such as Dr. Ian Cutress aka TechTechPotato—who insist on this usage. As a colloquialism, people will often use MT/s interchangeably with MHz, just like people often say gigabyte (GB) when in Windows the actual unit displayed is a gibibyte (GiB). That doesn’t make MT/s any less accurate.
