Known Insider Reveals Xbox Scarlett Is Running Behind PS5, Developers Frustrated With Microsoft

There was some interesting conversations going on about the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett yesterday after a high quality photo of two PlayStation 5 dev kits surfaced online. Some people started to question why we haven't seen or heard anything about Microsoft's Project scarlett console or their dev kits. Tom Warren from The Verge responded and mad it sound as if it is because Xbox has some big plan. Not too long after that response well known insider Jason Schreier shut that notion down revealing that Project Scarlett is seemingly running behind schedule and that he personally spoke to multiple 3rd party developers who are frustrated with Microsoft's lack of communication.

Obviously nothing it set in stone right now but you can feel the conversation surrounding the next-gen consoles starting to heat up. Who side are you more inclined to believe, Tom Warren or Jason Schreier? Personally I just do not believe for a second that Xbox has some grand plan they are trying to hide and keep secret, that just doesn't sound like the Xbox I've come to know over the past 3-4 years. However I think it would be great if that was actually the case because it means more competition. Ultimately Sony is in a very good position going into 2020 and the conversation surrounding the PlayStation 5 just won't stop. Will this change going forward...I guess we will find out.

I can’t wait for the PS5 honestly. My buddies can go down the Xbox route but I’m sticking straight to Sony. If Xbox can muster up some competition cool, but at the end of the day Sony will destroy them.

Hmmm. Keeping dev kits out od dev hands is counterproductive. Takes time to make and optimize these games. The longer devs have to wait, the likelier the possibility that third party launch titles could be rough on scarlet.

To tell you the truth the next xbox can be 5 x more powerful if they dont have the games then it ain't gone mean ish.

It makes much more sense to me that MS is behind because they've shown that the hardware is not their priority at all anymore. But the media constantly wants to hype up Xbox to get more clicks. They were hyping up the smallest announcements or even hints by Phil Spencer and acting like it would turn around the whole generation when there was no way that was going to happen.


I feel like the first tweet is just more of the same. It's actually hilarious how these people are always ating like Xbox has so many hidden secret weapons that they can bring out at any time. If that's true then why have they been getting their ass handed to them for 6 years straight?

I gotta go with Jason on this one. He's not perfect but he has an impeccable track record in this area and has been hitting the ballpark countless times it's hard not to believe the guy.

To me, I believe MS is playing the "COPY, PASTE" game with PS5. They are hanging back and waiting for Sony to reveal more of their final specs so they could copy them more closely and probably raise the Scarlett's soc clock speeds, widen the memory cache or put in extra GDRR6 ram. I feel this way due after Cerny & Ryan gave those PS5 spec interviews on Wired & Cnet and then MS had that E3 2019 show revealing the Scarlett and in the vid they shamelessly "PLAGIARIZED" the PS5's core specs practically word for word, I was like 'WTF"!? That's PS5's specs!! How in the hell can those spec be THAT DAMN SIMILAR!?" This is my suspicion on why MS is so quiet with Scarlett specs & behind on the availability of the dev-kits, their waiting on Sony so they can copy, paste the PS5 specs to either match them or capitalize just enough to edge over them to win the specs argument. It's becoming more & more apparent to me that the Scarlett is becoming just a "ME TOO" console to the PS5.

I feel like Microsoft is watching Sony's every movement trying to get as much info as they can from them so they can apply it to their console. Like when Sony announced their GPU and that they'll be using SSD's. Microsoft must have been like "write that down".

I'm so disappointed with Xbox this year that I really don't care how powerful their next gen system is. It could be twice as powerful as Ps5, I'd still be disinterested. Gears 5, Forza, both full of microtransactions. Can't speak on behalf of Halo, but their first party lineup has been mostly repeats of games they've already done. A new Gears, Halo, Forza. That's cool. But they don't offer anything new or unique anymore. Been there, done that. Forza Horizon 4 was the last Xbox title I bought, and probably will be my final title. I have literally zero interest and no intent on buying a next gen xbox at launch and probably not until its at least two years in, and I have some idea of what is going on in terms of games.
