Omg this is sooo true!! Can’t agree more about the conflict of high and low context culture.

I dated couple of jp guys but no it never worked. Whenever there’s a tiny matter that didn’t go smoothly, I always got silent treatment and being ignored that I completely felt emotionally abused.
Whenever I just wanted to confront and talk, they just wanna run away. Even they finally decided to face it, they just think it’s a huge burden.

I feel like the only thing they want is ‘iyashi’ (healing) from their date.
All I have to do is to wear some feminine candy color frilly lacey outfit, being pretty like a doll sitting there nodding with a smily face,
instead of deep conversations, discussions about news and society, sharing of personal life etc.
They can’t handle this and again thinking it’s way too much burden.
And of course they take sarcasm like this too seriously - always got offended lol

I heard lots of jp guys complaining they have to be mind reader when they date jp girls but no they can’t handle an independent gaijin who knows what she wants.
Perhaps getting laid with a gaijin woman makes a great story to brag about when they got drunk in nomikai (company / friends gathering dinner) as it’s something fascinating to be proud of in their boring daily routine robot life loool

DOING than BEING is an interesting point. And whether it's high or low context culture affects tons of things in general. It is hard but worth learning and overcoming those differences, I think.

three reasons why japanese doesn't make good friends:
first, they makes zero efforts to speak other languages and anyway when we try to speak japanese they laugh at our accents and they don't forgive bad pronounciations
secondly, they refuse to show their feelings no matter how polite, kind and respectful we are. just because they refuse to put us in their friendship circle (in fact it's only when they get drunk, it's pathetic)
and thirdly, they love to criticize the others in their back. they judge them without knowing them, they don't give us any chance. they don't tell our mistakes, how can we improve ourselves.
i like japan, for what it has naturally, but i do not get why its locals are so well seen in the world.
