If the avoidance of sulfur-rich proteins and food additives can help prevent inflammatory bowel disease, might similar dietary changes help prevent relapses of ulcerative colitis?

I used to have ulcerative colitis. Going vegan healed it for me. Dairy was the major trigger, but all animal products hurt in some way. I also remember distinctly that when a flare was coming on, I would get that sulphury smelling gas, so the SAA's you are talking about make a lot of sense and that's probably why. I found soy to also be a problem for me.

In my opinion it seems that doctors don’t care that much about IBD considering that it is not as significant as other diseases such as heart disease, cancer, etc. we are extremely behind on the science of ibd and it is insane

I can't wait to see Dr Greger's video when an interventional study would have been published.

Ulcerative Colitis is a disease characterised by chronic inflammation in the large intestine, leading to micro-ulcers and infection. The primary cause of the condition is unknown but recent research suggests that it is triggered by the immune system reacting to an environmental, dietary or infectious agent in those who are already genetically predisposed to the condition.

Isn't food like broccoli or cauliflower high in sulfur?

I believe I have Ulcerative colitis as all the symptoms described on the net say so. Blood in stool and frequent need to use the restroom.

I myself have never ate healthy but never seen issues until about a year ago.
For me I know I drank a lot of diet coke and I mean a lot. I would refill 64 Oz cups at 7/11 more than once or twice daily as I drove for a living doing uber, doordash and stuff.

I'm just throwing my advice out there. Try not to consume fast food and sodas too much. I know for sure diet coke and fast food lead to my Ulcerative colitis.

For me any legumes are producing 200 times more putrefying hydrogen sulfuric gases than any meat in my intestines :( Over a year on plant based diet and still cannot eat any legumes. What is strange - huge amounts of gases form less than in an hour after eating legumes. Tried to soak them, overcook them, microwave them, steam them - all to no avail. Any ideas?

I've been vegan for 8 months but I've had food poisoning from accidentally eating a bit of cheese in a "vegan falafel wrap". (2 days after eating got stomach cramps, vomiting and white?? diarrhea) so nauseous I don't want to eat anything yet I feel so hungry. D:

The KO BIDET informs you:
Inefficient wiping isn’t just gross in theory; if you don’t thoroughly clean yourself post-poo, experts say you run the risk of getting some pretty undesirable health problems.

According to Allen Kamrava, M.D.—a colorectal surgeon at Cedars-Sinai—bidets are crucial for those with irritable bowel syndrome. In an interview with Yahoo!, he claims they’re key for keeping the good bacteria where they belong and maintaining the area’s natural oils, which break down if you use dry toilet paper.

John Cluley, M.D., a Texas-based gastroenterologist. “Wiping without using your hand is best. Bidets get rid of the rubbing and spreading, and get you as clean as you should be.”

I was a vegan when I acquired colitis. I started eating animal meat again afterwards and it wasn't until then that I started feeling twice as healthy and twice as good. I didn't just cut out the fiber, but animal protein has really giving me a lot of energy back. It's a very dense source of calories as well, which is good for people like me. So I'm not sure if it's the animal protein or if it's just the extra calories but I've been eating this way for 6 or 7 months now and felt improvements from the very first day that I reintroduced chicken into my diet then I moved on to red meat and now I eat both.

I've read that mesalazine works on reducing hydrogen sulfide to but I don't remember the mechanism.

Also it baffles me why there isn't a targeted medicine or ailment yet for reducing h2s when UC patients have an increased amount of it it compared to a healthy colon
