While I was in a very bad flair with Colitis 2.5 years ago I desperately changed my diet as even the meds were not working. They almost removed my Colon. I really believe this was the turning point for me. I went all non-processed foods. No added sugar. No caffeine or alcohol. As many fermented foods as possible. Kimchi, sauerkraut, sourdough bread etc. Oats, blueberries, bananas, Kefir, Avocados, egg’s daily. Basically nutrient dense and easy to digest foods. I feel awesome now. Very liberating.

So what she is talking about is 100% bang on. My colon has never functioned so well all my life until making that change. The other part of the equation was the meds started to work after changing my diet. I feel like I’m in deep remission. First full colonoscopy since being in remission in 2 weeks time. I feel confident it’s going to be great results. The diet along with the meds worked for me don’t know about others.

Oh and she is also correct about your body telling you what it wants. For example, I didn’t realize I was craving fermented foods. Especially sauerkraut. Non-pasteurized. Also, Apple Cider Vinegar. It’s crazy but true. Sorry, so many other details that I could go on and on. Listen to what she has to say.

How long have GI’s been telling those of us with IBD that diet ultimately doesn’t matter? Glad to see the tides are turning

Good talk, but it's unfortunate that we can't see the actual presentation.

Any chance you can share a link with the powerpoint? It's nice to see the presenter, but some of the information on the slides might be helpful as well :)

I ve been diagnosed with Crohn’s since 2000 had 12 inches removed in exploratory surgery and in feb 2022 had a blockage and 2 inches removed. Doc recommended I get on Humira I did and 8 months after I now have Alopecia universalis (total body hair loss) I feel it was due to the meds doc says no didn’t expect them to say otherwise, I stopped humira and now the doc wants me to get onto another biologic, I chose not to and give my self a chance through diet, exercise and supplementation and so far I feel great, my skin has cleared up (psoriasis) my bowls movement are normal again, I have more energy, just hoping that with time I will see my hair grow other than that I feel great ! . No more processed foods, no added sugar or caffeine just real food and exercise. I will go get checked in a month or two and check the status of my inflammation 🤞🏽. Good luck to anyone on their health journey.

As someone with Crohn's for about 8 years... I notice the only thing that put me in full remission was when I went keto and fasted once a week and drank a lot of tumeric tea.

Certain things still affected me, but when I want into carnivore lifestyle, it made me feel so much better and didn't have any symptoms ever since. I stopped because it's so damn hard to stay keto or carnivore for me. I should go back though.

I’m confused by all this since my doctor told me to stay away from anything that causes gas.. legumes and potatoes any raw veggies.. like anything that causes gas hurts me so bad.. I don’t understand why anyone is recommending this for ppl with gut issues.
