Tony Jeffries shares the proper technique to slip punches in boxing. Beginners often slip too much when they are hitting the heavy bag. Slipping too low puts you in a bad position, making it hard for you to move if a punch is coming and you can't throw counter punches.

Can't believe my coaches don't talk about this. Especially in MMA, I learned why slipping too far is a problem the *hard* way.

Thanks for these shorts Tony! Sometimes I don’t have time (or attention span 🫢) for a longer video but I feel these are great tips to catch real quick! Much appreciated!

Learnt it the hard way honestly, good to see you bringing this on you channel though, so that others don't have to learn it the way I did 😅

Guilty as charged! I catch myself going WAY too far in my slips all the time. Then I wonder why my core is tired & sore, why I'm off balance, & why it takes me so long to counter my opponent. Good advice and tip. Now if I can just remember to implement it into my practice and sparring sessions.

Tony Jeffery knows about slips really good

This depends on the style of the boxer that he uses. Big slips are very helpful for leverage. It is good to have small ones for most styles. I'm slipping big and its more helpful to me. It's more tiring though and I wouldn't suggest big slips unless one is in very great shape. Liston slipped small and it sure worked great for him.

That big slip is useful if you committing to the uppercut or body shot after the slip

I’m just now getting into boxing this week because it seems interesting. I hope I can get some training in before I ask my parents about it since they’re kinda strict with sports.

Some quality advice! If you are that far down, in MMA it gets you kicked in the face!
