Every time I rewatch this, I keep on trying to imagine what sort of threat could lead to the Federation sending everything short of the Calis and Parliments to a single battle. Obviously not the Reapers, a single NX-Refit from the 2170s would pulverize them, the Borg are pretty much extinct by the 25th Century, and the Dominion aren't too keen on another war.

This is basically how I imagined that Allied Fleet arriving for the final battle at Earth during STO's Iconian War. I love that arc so much, especially that mission. just, the air of "whether we win or lose, it ends here regardless".

Geordi: Ah, that? It's a curious thing from the past. Found it drifting in the Oort cloud powered down a couple of years ago. It's Klingon War-era. Apparently, Starfleet decided to build a full-scale battleship and tell nobody. I can see why they dropped the idea though. It's built around the idea of being capable of mid-warp intercept, which they had no idea how to do properly back then, so the drive by default just rips through subspace, wastes energy and sounds horrible in the process. Would probably die of natural causes after 5 years in space. The shield takes too much time to regenerate. The entire thing has ridiculous overheating issues. Ah, and the interior feels haunted and crew quarters are basically prison cells. It's certainly a human desigh, but fundamentally not Starfleet. Good for planetary bombardment and probably not much else. But they also designed it to be operated by a single person for some reason, and that was not the default feature back then. Based on it's documented name, it honestly feels like a platform for a weapon of last resort, but we found no such weapon in there. Honestly, the whole thing feels like a creepy campfire story. But we are retrofitting it with better stuff as we speak. It will still be expensive to run, but I bet we'll need a ship this big at some point.

I will say, this kinda reminds me if my days of Armada/Armada II after building my defenses and my fleets (armada 320-350 sometimes as high as 500)(armada ii 640-700 or as high as my max out of 950 depending on map) to my first hostile neighbor. This video, even with ships not included in those games, gives me an accurate representation of what they must have seen. And it brings a rather sadistic smile to my face.
