What’s happening in this The Karate Kid Part III movie clip?
Daniel (Ralph Macchio) and Mike (Sean Kanan) face off in the tournament final. Mike makes mistakes on purpose so he can hit Daniel and hurt him, to weaken him. Daniel gets up several times but ends up being too tired to keep going. He wants to give up but Miyagi (Pat Morita) motivates him. Daniel wins the fight.

After the closing of his karate school, John Kreese (Martin Kove) joins a wealthy owner of a toxic waste disposal business in order to gain revenge on Daniel (Ralph Macchio) and Miyagi (Pat Morita).

I love how Barnes immediately hesitated once he saw Daniel no longer feared him. Like, "oh shit he's actually setting up for a takedown, and this is sudden death so I can't be reckless like before".

The motif of a young man without a father finding both success & a father figure has a place in my heart, having lost my father at 17. We all can't be Daniel but we can both become good at something and also find rolemodels who can be trusted. Personally I wasn't super bright but time sharpened me :)
