I've just had a chat with my family about scams, after one of us came incredibly close to losing their money. I'm the most tech savvy in the family and even I got nearly caught out by a Smishing scam.

My sister looks after mums money but one day she had a call asking mum for her account details she gave them a number, when my sister asked what number she gave it turned out it was my sister's old mobile number 🤣

This is a really good guide for love ones. It would be really helpful to have a guide as to what a typical scam looks like, from the view point of the person being scammed.

Yes do report it to Action Fraud, unfortunately neither they (or the police) will actually do anything or investigate it but it may help you feel better..

Why answer the telephone ? Always have an ANSWMACHINE and listen ! Most will not leave a message ! Job done ! If someone starts to speak don’t get involved unless you so desire. It’s Common Sense Advice ; sadly though, Common Sense is not Common !!
