Slow filling toilet repair.
If your cistern is filling slowly and you have similar internals to this cistern, there is a good chance that the Inlet Float Valve Diaphragm Washer is faulty (bit of a mouthful).

Here are the links for the washers for both amazon and ebay:

"toilet filling slowly" and greeted with your video which is identical to what I'm seeing. This might be most utilised and appreciated how to guide I've ever seen

Fixed for £2.50. The only people downvoting this are the tradesmen charging old ladies £80 for the same job.

Always nice when the first video you click on is exactly the same unit as you’re working on. Cheers for this 👌🏻

People like you give people like me the confidence to try repairs like this ourselves. Thank you for posting this video.

This is what was up with my cistern - the split in the membrane seal was even in the exact same place. Perfectly explained and easy to follow video. Bought the part at a local shop and I was able to fit it in about 10mins. Cheers Handyman!

Thank you, you are an absolute legend. I fixed the jax in about 5 minutes after watching this video and it only cost me €3.50 ! I had looked in the cistern before but I had no idea where to begin on seeing the complex looking inlet value mechanism. Thanks again for an excellent video.

I know this video is 5 years old but have been struggling with a slow filling toilet for weeks that no one would come to look at. This video gave me the confidence and know how to repair it myself. Amazing!!

Further to my comment 9 days ago and after getting no answer from local plumbers I had another go myself having already changed the Inlet Float Valve Diaphragm Washer as described in the video. The solution is simple but not mentioned in any video I've seen. There is circular piece on top of the valve stem with a depression in the centre. This is to let the air out of the unit. Whilst filling the system depress this with a small screwdriver and you will hear and see bubbles as air is released. Now having replaced the valve and let the air out it works just fine!

Thank you. Well explained and easy to follow. Took the split diaphragm washer to a plumbers merchant to get it replaced. Easy to refit. The cistern was taking over 15 minutes to refill, now takes about 40 seconds. 👍

Thank you very much! This saved me a boring back and forth with my landlord - I've never tried fixing anything like this myself before and your video was incredibly easy to follow and useful!

Thanks so much, it's a little fiddly but the detailed video was simple to follow and saves a plumber call.

I managed to fix my toilet thanks to you and this video you made (and the link provided to the part needed). I appreciate it, thank you very much.

2023 and your video is still being used!!! One of the clearest, well explained DIY videos I have ever seen. Found it a bit difficult to source the diaphragm as i suppose it's part of the trade's con to get you to buy a complete replacement, but got one at an independent plumbers merchant. Thanks man, it helped me to change the diaphragm.

Thank you for this video, I had slow filling cistern with exact same fittings as you! Managed to get the fitting off after watching this (I didn't even know how to turn the water off before watching your video), Diaphragm was fine but gave it a clean and its turned out that the collar was on too tight, but all fixed now! Thank you for your brilliant video! You explain everything very clearly.

Thanks so much - we had exactly the same problem with our cistern. Once I had watched your video I could order the correct part from our local screwfix, pick it up the same day and do the replacement. It was a 5 minute job because I knew what to do thanks to your clear instructions. Our problem was identical to the one you show - the old washer had split. With the new one fitted everything back to normal. please keep up the good work - it's much appreciated.

It cost me £5 for the washer from my local Screwfix but I reckon I’ve saved at least £50 for a plumber. Thank you so much! 🙏
