The 24-year prison sentence in the deadly Bayshore street-racing crash came as a shock to many in the legal community, but it might not end there. The stiff sentence is now being appealed by the young driver's attorney.

Cameron Herrin pleaded guilty to racing another teen, John Barrineau, on Bayshore Boulevard and hitting Jessica Raubenolt and her baby Lillia as they crossed the street, killing both mom and baby.

Last year, Barrineau took a state offer and pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and unlawful racing and is now serving a six-year prison sentence.

Herrin, who was not offered a plea deal, instead decided on an open plea to the court, leaving his fate in the hands of the judge. Nash gave him four times the sentence Barrineau got and now wants a do-over.

I’m disgusted and disappointed in humanity after looking at how many people defending him because he is cute, saying he deserves a fking second chance. I’m just disgusted.

2nd chance is laughable, He took a new born who never got a chance at life and a mother who’s life was cut short

There will be only one winner in this appeal: the attorney's bank account.

This young kido has been warned multiple times by police officer for speeding and driving with invalid licences until this incident happened. Second chance?? Should ask "Where is firing squad?"

Has anyone heard anything about that rich kid in California that was driving a Lamborghini SUV and killed that poor girl?

I’m all for giving him a second chance - after he serves his 24 years. The dead mom and baby get no second chance.

He was 21 years old
He has been warned 4 times
The mother and the baby did nothing wrong to deserve death
The father lost his wife and daughter
The mother's parents lost their daughter and granddaughter
The baby had a full life ahead to enjoy, but now she can't.
The mother and father could've watched their daughter growing up and having a family, but now they can't.
The grandparents could've watched their granddaughter growing up, but now they can't.

And yet some of you dumbasses still has the audacity to call him "INOCCENT" because he's cute.
Would you say the same if it was your family, your friends, or your loved one that were killed? Would you still call him cute and want him free?
Send prayers to the father. Your wife and daughter are now in a better place💔

That mom and baby will never get a "do-over" but I feel the sentences should have been the same for both

The consequences of your actions can cause you your freedom.

"Hell No!" He killed a Mom and her child, he still gets to walk around, they don't. What a corrupt soul this boy has, take your medicine be thankful it's not the death penalty. Does he come from privilege or a wealthy background, has he always had it easy, or is just playing the child angle here? Should have got the max, 30 years.

“Second chance”? Can you bring back the mother and child for a second chance at life?
