Judge has change of heart after handing down 60-year sentence

A Broward County judge had a change of heart after sentencing a 23-year-old man to 60 years in prison for violating his probation by driving with a suspended license.

The fact that a 60 year sentence can be instantly suspended by a single judge’s emotional change of heart, shows there is something grossly wrong with American law.

This is not a judge showing mercy.
It is a judge showing a total lack of impulse control.
It is scary to think about the fact that somebody with this much power could give you life behind bars just because he woke up at the wrong side of the bed that morning.

If anyone wants an update, he died on June 20th 2020 after being gunned down. Some people just cannot escape the life, he was better off in Jail for his sake.

I used to work as a court usher in the UK and we'd always know how each day's hearings would go depending on A.) which judges were in court and B.) what mood they were in. Neither should affect the sentences handed out, but they certainly did. Obviously this is a very extreme case, but it shows just how much power they have and how their mood/impulse can change people's lives so dramatically!

I can’t believe that judges don’t have some type of board or internal affairs dept to review cases like this that are inhumane. This is wrong for one person to have this much power over people’s lives without being held accountable for possible biases. It saddens me.

I’ve seen people get 20 years for murder and r4pe, and child predators get 5 years. 60 years for this is insane.

60 years is a ridiculous sentence for anything except 1st degree murder

15 years for some murders and they want to hand a sentence of 60 years for driving without a licence. The US justice system is so broken.
