If you are having an issue with your virtual machines disconnecting from the internet or network in VMware Workstation, then you are not alone. This seems to be a common problem with Workstation 17.x and even rebooting your VMs will not get the internet connection back. Normally you can reboot your host computer to get around this but then you will need to shut down all of your virtual machines and any other programs you have open. Fortunately, there is an easy fix to get your VMs back online until VMware comes out with a fix for the issue.

Here is a writeup of the process on our website.

Check out our book (VMware Workstation Made Easy) that is designed to take your virtualization skills to the next level!

-Why exactly is not “ideal” to use a network bridge for each VM?

Do you really understand NAT?

Why would you want all your VMs appearing to come from 1 IP address?

NAT makes it harder to have services on those VMs.(RDP, VPN, SMB), but guessing you only have Desktop OSes under vmware and don’t need to access or use any of their services remotely.
