I have been on a severe elimination diet for the last 6 months to help find out what i'm sensitive to because of several different forms of eczema and inflammation out the wazoo! My restrictions were no dairy, no gluten, no sugar, no soy, no peanuts, no shellfish, no corn, no chocolate, no pork, no beef, no coffee, no tea, no alcohol, no juices, and no processed foods. Even the oils and sweeteners i used had to be specific. I thought i might die when i read that list. But i was very strict for 6 months and one of my eczema's completely disappeared, the other one is apparently not diet related. So that alone was a huge revelation. I also lost 32lbs. No more bloating ever!!! No headaches. Never got sick. My skin looked AMAZING! And most of all i felt amazing! I was focused. Not irritable.
My holistic doctor tested my blood before and after the diet and there was a huge difference in my inflammation, cholesterol levels, overall health and weight. She was thrilled. One by one, i have slowly added things back into my diet to see what affects me. Pork is out. Beef is only in moderation (too hard for my body to digest), Soy was fine. Eggs were fine. Dairy and gluten both cause bloating and general mood and irritability. And i also believe it is the cause of my eczema. So i am staying away from those. As well as sugar and processed foods. I honestly thought it would be much harder than it was. But like Ariel said, the benefits FAR outweigh the inconveniences and the cons. If you are reading this and you have always contemplated doing an elimination diet but thought it would be too hard, don't wait. You won't regret it. I promise!!! Stick it out. It's so worth it. And you may just decide to stay of a bunch of things because you don't want to ruin how you look and feel :)

The problem with quitting sugar is that once you've tasted it again even for 1 day, the craving starts again. It's so addictive 😩. But I felt so much better too when I was off the sugar, but now I'm hooked again. For me it's a struggle

I'm four months into the same health journey. Watching this definitely brought tears to my eyes. Inflammation is horrible, and you really don't realize how affecting it is until you start feeling better. Food really is medicine ❤️ love this video

Congratulations, Ariel! I have food allergies and have followed a gluten-free and dairy-free lifestyle for 14 years -- I went from chronic migraines and serious lifelong health issues to true wellness! I make our food from scratch everyday and it's a joy in my life to nourish my family (including 5 boys) with delicious, whole-food nutrition that we all love. I have recently eliminated sugar as well and also feel a huge shift. It can be done and I'm so proud of you for taking control of your health in this way!!!! 👏🎉❤️🙌

You're so down to earth and relatable. And I found myself crying when you talked about it changing how you felt inside, and the anxiety factor. 😢

You go girl! When I was eating keto I kept telling everyone my energy was next level I hadn’t felt that energy since childhood. And I agree with the anxiety too. Good luck

For inflammation reasons, I've been 80% keto for a couple years now. I'll plan a non-keto cheat treat or meal for special occasions. I lost a little weight, my skin improved, my energy improved, and I realized I was no longer in a brain fog. I can definitely feel the difference when I have that cheat. Congratulations on fixing stuff with nutrition!

Cannot love this video more! Ditching wheat, processed foods and sugar has drastically changed my life as well. Yes, it’s more prep but I know what’s in the foods we eat. My new hobby is following those with a similar lifestyle and collecting recipes.

So happy for you! I got off flour and sugar in February. It gets easier. I cook my veggies and proteins in bulk and try to cook just 2/3 days a week. Wishing you incredible success!!

Wow! When you mentioned your anxiety as a child being too scared to cough I was shocked, because I thought I was the only one who experienced that. I also had anxiety about eating my lunch in front of my classmates and would pick at it and be starving all day!

Overjoyed to hear your awesome news! A gluten-dairy-corn-soy free diet changed my life in similar ways 5 years ago! So thankful!

I’m glad you feel so much better Ariel. Thanks for this video, I am going to try eliminating sugar, dairy & gluten & see if it helps me too. PS if you freeze a ripe banana then take it out & blend it a little, you’ll have “nice cream”

My mom just found out she has cancer and her CT showed extremely clogged arteries. Her doctor said for both her cancer and her cholesterol she needs to give up sugar. I'm trying to do it in solidarity. Man, it's hard. Interesting to see my favorite internet mom doing it to.

I have OCD and was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance years ago and was off and on with it over the years because I didn't think gluten was affecting me that much. Then after I got married I started getting so chronically exhausted and severely bloated I was basically becoming bedridden and could only go to work and then come home and lay on the couch. I got off of the gluten and you'd think I took ecstasy- I was dancing in my hallway at 1 am. I'm convinced most of our health ailments would be fixed if we just paid more attention to our bodies and what we put in them. Praise God for your recovery and I hope your health continues to improve! ❤️

I have been gluten-free for several years now for the same reason! My anxiety is still there, but it is dramatically better than when I was eating gluten. I realized it was causing major anxiety while I was in high school. For a long time when people would ask me what happens when I eat gluten, I felt weird about saying "it gives me anxiety" because I thought they wouldn't believe me because they expected my stomach to hurt or something like that. I'm working on cutting out dairy and sugar now, but that has been a lot harder for me than the gluten!

Thanks for sharing your story. It is so important to normalize talking about mental health and sharing what works for us as individuals because it could help someone who's struggling.

All your videos have me in stitches. So hilarious. I LOVE your videos! You crack me up. 53 year old mom of 5 (all grown now). You are so real. Been keto 4 years and so many benefits to my health. I think it has to do with not having processed foods. I feel your pain about all the time and mess involved having to make like EVERYTHING from scratch! 🤪

if anyone considering cutting out gluten i really recommend getting tested for celiac first, if you find you have an issue with gluten its hard to get diagnosed after you have already cut it out as the tests measure your body's response to gluten

celiac requires a very strict diet and cutting even trace amounts out and you cant cheat so its important to know if its celiac or gluten intolerance or even fodmaps causing the issue
