How Long Does it Take to Recover from Chemo?

Hands up if chemo kicked your butt! 🙌

When I finished chemo I was completely destroyed. Exhausted, up 20 lbs, and peri-menopausal at the age of 30!

I thought when you finished chemo you got to cross the finish line, ring the damn bell, and live the life of your dreams.

Nope.

Instead I started the long recovery back. I desperately wanted to find me again! Not the old me (before cancer) but me - Amy. I didn't know who this person was in the mirror but I knew it wasn't me.

But 6 months into my recovery and I was still not feeling like myself.

I started wondering, would I ever find myself again after cancer?

Well survivor sister, I'm here to tell you that I absolutely did get back to feeling like myself again. I was struggling through but wasn't really investing the energy or time into my recovery like I had invested into my treatment. Big mistake!

Even after chemo was done, I need to continue to take to focus on me and my recovery. It wasn't until I dedicated myself to the recovery process that I really started feeling like myself again.

We all have someone who passed away from cancer. I don't believe its intended to be insensitive. It really takes time to feel better. Be positive, exercise and get back into the things that you use to do.❤
