I got nowhere with my doctor, or with my insurance, for treating my weight, my blood sugar, or insulin resistance. So, I quit carbs for good. No hacks unless you count a bit of anger mixed with fear of death. It made me grumpy for a few days, but that feeling did not last. For me, it took reaching the point of realizing it had to be for life, not 20 days, or 40 days etc, that carbs were not okay once in a while, or as a reward, and it did not matter what anybody else was eating, or what was in the cupboard, and that nobody was going to help me. I had to do it for myself. Minimal carbs is what my body needs for optimum health. Period.

This is excellent and very much needed. I was a sugarholic until I was 61. It took many months to lose the cravings, but now I can honestly say I have no interest in any sweets except for a lingering interest in homemade chocolate chip cookies. I thought about having some on my birthday, but did not trust that the cravings wouldn't reactivate...
A few things that helped me was adding a scoop of Dr Berg's flavored electolyte powder (orange) to my lemon water. It isn't too salty and the organic stevia he uses doesn't have a nasty aftertaste. Seems pricey, but is much cheaper than the wine I used to drink with dinner.

I also make chaffles: equal parts egg and shredded mozzarella, with a spoonful of coconut flour, spoonful of water, and a dash of salt. Bake for 5 minutes in a mini waffle maker. You can top it with cream cheese and a spoonful of jam for a mild sweet fix (that hopefully won't be triggering for you). After many months, I now eat the chaffles with just butter.

After a stroke at age 53 a gained 15 kg (33 Lbs) became prediabetic, had hypertension and had suddenly severe erectile disfunction. Went keto, lost the weight and all the problems totally disappeared. Not missing sugars at all. Hope this helps 🤙🙂

I'm 74 years old, and i'm type 2 diabetic. I guit SUGAR 10 years ago. Since i guit sugar, my blood glucose in the morning is below 6! I became vegetarian, too. I jogged daily 5km

Regular folks can eat regular beef and regular salmon as not everyone can afford specialty food. - I do love dark chocolate, non-sweetened 70%-80% cocoa like you mentioned, but it is one of those foods that triggers me and I am not sure why. Fortunately, my cabinets and refrigerators are not filled with sugary foods.

I had a similar crash after cutting sugar and carbs. First the sugary drinks, the sugar snacks, switched all other carbs to whole grains /fruits/veggies with cutting quantity of grains by 50-60%. But I also did not replace all those calories except for 1 egg a day. After I had a "bonk", waking every night at 3am, first time I counted calories I used to eat and my current diet and there was a deficit of 750-800 calories a day. I added more fats (walnuts) breakfast and bit of protein (extra portion of fish or chicken at lunch) and olive oil (dinner in some fashion). It is now all balanced out, fixing my sleep, appetite, stable weight and I could vigorously exercise. My one weekly indulgence is pizza, but no rising or thick crust but a thin crust pizza which has only between 50-40% of carbs found in a normal crust pizza. It took about 1/2 a year. I lost 32 lbs. It got easier after month 3 once sodas, fruit juices, cookies and similar were cut. - Yes, brushing teeth is a good trick to deal with urges.

Sugar, particularly fructose, is one of the root causes of our health issues. The other are seed/vegetable oils. Everyone seems to recommend Tahini oil, but they are very high in Omega-6 fatty acids that cause inflammation and react with the endocannabinoid system to make us hungry (like THC).

We also have to get our personal life and affairs in balance. The urge for a neurotransmitter fix is very hard t control if our emotions are on rollercoaster of turbulence day in and day out. I had a good routine down, but living in a chaotic situation has thrown it way off. I feel weak and vulnerable, and also disgusted when I fall.

If I eat carbs, I always try to pair it with a good protein so it dont spike my blood sugar

I did see the Glucose Goddess criticize xylitol as bad for diabetics. I work around the problem by chewing xylitol mints for perhaps a minute and then spitting them out. My hope is to get the dental benefit without ingesting the sugar.

Moved from fruit smoothies to vegetable
Only fruits add moderate berries.
But vegetable anti nutrients still difficult.
Dumped oxalate spinash, moved to bags kale, Arugula. ACV, Sauerkraut, creatine
4 proteins, whey, Casein, collagen, orgain
Garlic, onion, 20+ spices, plain kefir
Like 20 more ingredients
Distilled water, metal vitamix, etc, etc

not sure if I'll make it long term.
but two things helping me is my first meal.
something like microwave scramble eggs then add butter and curry powder, sometimes make mince burger. then when i want to eat out of habit/anx/bordem to eat through the day i drink lemon (concentrated juice) water.
not perfect but seems to have been helping.

dinner i freeze portions of a cookup. chilli on stuff is kind of what i seem to go for over a sweet fix.
