Thats how I do my pushups. I go all the way down to the floor, lift my hands up, then retract and depress the scaps and press back up, emphasizing a chest contraction by trying to squeeze the ground together so both my hands can touch. The hands never actually touch but thats the idea when you contract the chest in pushups.

I've been concentrating on keeping elbows in for a similar effect, but I like this shoulder-blade focus for better form still
