Perfect build, I just used this style this week. I used 2X3x8" instead of 2x4's, too expensive today. Turned out perfect, plenty strong enough for my needs. What's nice is you can make it by yourself without help and be safe, Super easy and strong.

Thanks for this. There are many of these how to shelf videos on YT. This one is right to the point.

Great Build.. But i have one question to all rack, shelves builders. Why do you all time use 2”4”. I mean, do you store an engine block in top of the rack? Or from an roof hanging shelves? If you do, it’s okey. I made my own roofing shelve from 1”2” and osb in bottom. Strong as h.... But I will never store heavy stuff up there, like an engine block. You know what I mean. I want to get away the stuff i don’t use so often. I mean, in the most videos in YouTube, the construction is over kill. You may split the 2”4” in half and it will never let you down. The advance of that will be that it will gives you two rack out of one. It’s all about of the needs for your use.

Nice method! Thanks for sharing your tips, really like that.
I’m curious, why use drywall screws to tie down the plywood?

But the floor away from the wall is sloped for drainage in my home in SC. Have to level to the width of the shelf... Just throwing that in...

Nice build, but doesn’t having no support legs on the wall side put the entire load on the screws? I was also thinking instead of pocket holes, maybe use 2x4 joist hangers.

pocket holes ? Maybe use joist hangers brother. cheap, easy

What size screws did you use to attach 2 x 4 to the wall?

What was the thickness of ply? A wide angle shot at the end would be good.

Get that stuff out of the way so you can build more cool things, right? ha ha. Nice solutions, Robert!

do you need to put pocket holes on the front end of the cross braces or just the back ends? in the video, you put screws 90 deg into the end pieces of the braces. thanks

Very nice video, simple and to the point.... But how did you secure the cross braces on the end as you did the others since you would essentially have 2- 2x4's to go through before hitting the cross brace on the ends? Your screw would have to have been 4 in. or so i would imagine. If that makes sense.

What was the Makita saw? Was it a circular saw and what was the piece laying on the wood that worked as the guide? I hate my table saw (scares me) but that i'd LOVE!!!

Seen this technique lots but it doesn't take into account floor not being level.

Hi Robert,
which type and size screws were used to attach wood to the studs and I believe the other screw was 3inch! Was it same one ones? Any idea how much weight can these shelves handel. I was thinking of building shelves that are supposed by ground with six legs total rather than studs since I didn't want poke holes in the studs and damage them if I will have heavy items of the shelves.
