One afternoon before my wife came home i made her some strong garage shelves for all the heavy red totes. This quick and easy way to make shelving method is great for any garage or workshop. The garage space has 9ft walls and built this unit along one entire wall. The KREG jigs and battery powered tools made this DIY project go quick. Tools needed will be cordless drill, hand saw, stud finder, chalk-line, and kreg tooling. The plywood shelves are built from 1/2" plywood along with 2x4 braces, supports, and legs. Our homesteading son was featured in the carpentry box was revealed and he learned how to build garage shelves with his dad. Is it cheaper to build your own shelves vs going to a big store? Yes, every homesteader should be owning their own tools so you can build these for approximately 1/4 the price at the stores.

Thanks for the vid. I made three fixed shelves from the floor to 7 ft, with adjustable shelves in between. The fixed shelves are affixed into my concrete wall with Tapcon screws and the top two shelves are supported further with 2x4 's going vertically from the previous shelves.

Good video. But the 30 “shelf supports” are unnecessary. Simply fasten the OSB to the front and back horizontal supports, only.

You could have saved yourself a lot of measuring and marking for the repeated cuts by using a fence with your mitre saw and then using a stop block on it.

I see you used pocket screws to attach the shelf braces to the inside (wall) frame. Would you recommend using pocket screws to attach the braces to the outside frame as well?

what about the 2x4s from local HD/LW being crooked/twisted all over? do u still make them relatively 'straight' when just screwing 2gether like that? or u managed to get yourself straight/square 2x4 from somewhere else?
